Teenage years -- bummed rides off of people...
~20 -- 'borrowed' dad's Toyota truck for a few years...
26 -- New Sebring (my loan, my bill).
30 -- New 325Ci (paid cash).

16, it was a 1976 bmw 2002. one badass car, still have it, its for sale if someone wants it now. im now 17 and drive a 2000 323i, love it, but id rather sell it, use 2-3k to fix some cosmetics on the old car and use the rest as a downpayment for the new m5 thats coming out soon and pay the restmyself. 2 door v10 bmw...thats something i HAVE to have.

I stood there shocked for a second, then remembered that I live in Orange County. I casually said that no one deserves any car, especially a car like that, if they didn't actually earn the money to buy it. I got the strangest looks from people in my class as though what I just said was blasphemy.

Why do people think that they deserve everything that they get? Until you start working for your money you don't deserve a damn thing. Until then, you're just lucky that you have what you have.
I got my first BMW about 2 months ago.

Sachingulaya... you're right brother, I don't agree when students base their reasoning on getting a $30k + car b/c of good grades. I'm glad that they are good students but I believe that it's a matter of expectations. I was an idiot my first two years in HS. Getting C's and all that... but when a family member got sick, I was forced to grow up and try to become a man to the family. I got good grades and my mom applauded me for that...but that was about it (well, maybe she took me out to dinner)... but the fact is that I didn't expect anything in return for my accomplishments. I remember when I was growing up in NYC that I would always complain to my mom about how my friend's parents bought him this and that. Her response was "well, go become their kid then."

I studied hard... got a job... and I still don't deserve any of the blessings that I have. It's all God's grace. If you don't believe me, look at all the people around the world (ie. Russia, China, India, etc) that work so hard... and what do they get... nothing but personal satisfaction... not "I deserve or earned" this.

For all the younger people that drvive nice cars in HS and college, you are truly blessed. I hope I don't sound like a hypocrite b/c I'm 24 driving a M... but I never felt like I deserved or expected it. I am VERY blessed myself.

Take care everyone... and drive carefully.

Well put ol' chap.

I bought my first and current bimmer when I was 23, 4 years ago... 1 year after I bought my first house.

Been dreaming of owning a BMW since I was in drivers ed.

Cancell: your parents bought you a BMW for graduating early? I graduated at 16 also and my parents bought me a college education.

I plan on maybe getting a 2002 and fixing it up also... a project car... those 2002s are awesome.

don't knock it. if you have nice enough parents to buy their kids

I hear ya Bob, I'm 27 and I feel old being on this board... but you made me feel better. I'm just messing . Yeah I've basically been working my ass off... we share the same philosophy... work hard now play even harder later. Every penny I make is being poured into my house, trying to pay her off asap so I can really get into what I love most, Cars.

Yeah I agree with the nice parents thing... they should feel blessed... but what are parents teaching them? Certainly not the value of a dollar.

Don't get me wrong... I'm not referring to ALL young'ns.

well what i meant to say is that they bought it for me because i graduated at 16, had good grades and went straight to college, versus waste a year or so like how others do. if you want, its for sale. mechanicall speaking, its perfect. cosmetically...be ready to spend some money. :p

damn...

17- nothing

this is probably my first post here

when i was 16, i had a 94 honda accord ex sedan which i paid every penny that i had for which didn't even amount to 1/4 of the total of the car. i gave 1200, car total was 6800. my sister paid 1500 and we were to share the car. i drove it for about 6 months and then my sister took it to college. now i don't have a car and i am on this forum dreaming of when i will be able to buy myself a 330ci

but my dad does let me drive his lexus rx300 around sometimes.
