When I turn on my HID's all my electric shuts down?

I have HID's for both the headlights and fog lights. Both are 8000k (I'm sure that doesn't matter). I put in the fog lights a few weeks prior to the headlights. I never had any problems turning on the fogs. But after I put the HID's in the headlights, I have some sort of electrical problem. It only occurs when turning on the lights. Sometimes when I turn on the headlights, all of the meters on the dash turn all the way down (RPM, MPH, fuel, car temp, etc) and the meters flicker. This happens for about one second and then everything returns to normal. It also resets the clock (huge annoyance). This sometimes occurs when turning on the fogs too. Does anyone know why this is happening? Is it the ballasts or possibly my battery?

sounds like a botched install.. I would remove and seeing if it has been installed incorrectly and checking to see if the car runs fine.

I have both aswell and have had no problems with flickering.

Something wrong with how you wired it up. Never heard of anything like that happening before. Just redo it.

Thanks guys. I feel like theres no way I messed up the fogs (9006). They are plug and play. And I never had a problem with them before installing the headlights (H7). The headlights were a pain to install as I know I did them incorrectly. The kit came with so many wires. There is one red and one black wire with small tips. I did nothing with those as I figured out another way to do it. I guess I'll do more research and try again.

Thanks again!
