calling solidjake or dmax
or any other of the diagnostic gurus on here..... i have a quik ? for all of you..... my car has developed a ticking noise... i thought it was a sticky lifter but i notice that when i engage the clutch the ticking goes away... as soon as i let off of the clutch the ticking slowly comes back.... throw out bearing? what do you guys think it is

Well unfortunately for you I do not have a manual car. It does seem like that can be the culprit. Much cheaper than changing the entire clutch kit. Post in the general E46 section and they will help you out.

Can you post a video of it? Most manual cars I've driven made some weird noises with the clutch engaged, but I can't say any of them sounded like a sticky lifter

ill try to go into my garage or something to see if my cell camera can pick it up. but its a ticking noise that speeds up with the rpm

Your car is equipped with a dual mass flywheel. It will make ticking/chatter noise when at idle. Also let me guess, when you shut your car off and the clutch is not depressed, your car sounds like its falling apart, correct? and if you simply depress teh clutch while shutting the car off, no sound.
A Am I right or wrong? I dont usually play guessing games but I think I know the problem and I'd like to help you.
