random rough Idle and low power

Hey guys I am having a strange issue with my car. I have a 2002 330Ci with about 130k on it. Randomly when the car is at idle or when I am at a stop light it will sputter and start running rough. It almost seems as if one or more spark plugs is missing. There is a major loss of power but I can usually limp into a parking space or something. When I turn it off and re-start it, it runs just fine. I havent had the codes scanned yet. I just wanted to see if this seemed familiar to anyone. I was going to post it to the thread below but its not quite the same issue so I started this new thread.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!!!

Get the codes read and report back or search for them. Without the codes it's really just a guess, so don't go out and buy intake cam sensor before reading the codes, but that's my guess!

auto or manual? could be your camshaft position sensor. I had a similar issue. My car would run fine until I let the rpms drop (take it out of gear) then it would either dip really low and sputter or even die. Once I restarted it would be okay sometimes..

hey man read my post im pretty much having the same problem, if i let it idle for a bit it starts acting up or mis firing...

Its Manual. Is the camshaft position sensor an easy DIY?

Best I can do is get the ODB II codes read. I will go to Auto Zone or something and report back.

Did you by chance manage to resolve the issue? I have a 2001 330ci with the same issue!

I totally forgot to update this thread. Bad internet form on my part. My issue was actually the Mass Airflow Sensor. Got that replaced and it fixed up my issue.

Sorry for the lag in reporting back! Hope this helps someone else!

i had the same problem but i cleaned the MAF sensor and the error has not returned yet...

where did u buy your maf sensor?
