I need examples of challenging the status quo

I'm writing my Haas transfer essay and I need to write about questioning the status quo...

anyone have any good examples of people questioning the status quo?

McCarthyism. Use Murrow - history.
Puritanism. Use The Crucible and Scarlet Letter - literature.

Bam. Instant 5 paragraph essay.

I always loved that. People would literally say they did it to be different and then hang out with 20 other people with black eye shadow and nail polish

There are many good ideas in here... personally I'd go with something like Dr. Martin Luther King and civil disobedience. Before him, there weren't many practicing this way of protesting. After him, however, there were many- just look up the sit ins that took place in the '60's. Good luck!
