Cool Carbon Wrapping Project: e46 HPF AA M3 Engine Parts

Hey;

Just started a new project; an AA Supercharged e46 HPF M3!! Doing many of the engine pieces; including intake manifold!!.

Just started, so only a couple wrapped so far, but I've cut the cloth and prepped the remaining pieces. So after the Superbowl tonight I might wrap another couple of pieces.

I'm doing this in a 1x1 weave which I'm really enjoying. The tighter 1x1 weave provides a more "sturdy" cloth which feels slightly thicker and I'm finding quite nice to wrap with.

His engine bay before the wrapping project:

Below are the parts I'm going to be wrapping being prepped:

First wrapped parts pictures:

I'll be posting new pictures as I wrap new pieces through to completion. Will also post installed pictures as well to complete thread......

Thank you and congratulations!

Thanks!! Yup! Really carbon. Where to huy? Dozens of distributors across US and Canada and only a few producers (they all post the same new products, etc within days of each other)...... Buy on spec. I use a couple of suppliers..... CJ Composites in California and Composites Canada for cloth.

Watch for updates!

Hello!
But then you can take the original parts and be made only with the form of carbon?

even now ...
you got your car with turbo?
that it is? a
I loved having my M3 turbo or compressor ...
Sorry for the off-topic!

I could mould the parts, but since I'm wrapping each piece custom, moulds don't really help here.... Plus there are companies mass-producing some of the parts I do, but I like the original curves and lines, and moulded parts are usually changed to make it easier to produce, which is why I got into the wrapping initially.

Not my car... Said it was supercharged; appears to be drive belt in front of unit. Looks like the correct placement for a supercharger and AA does alot of superchargers for the e46 M3....

Could be some of them are still on the car. Can't wrap headers or the supercharger and associated stuff. Possibly initially done as HPF mod and has subsequently done more???? Not sure, but he definitely said HPF.....
