Problem solved. Took UPS 10 days to figure out that country of origin was missing for a few items. Think brown. think sh*t!

If that's what the UPS delivery driver looked like I wouldn't mind waiting a few extra days.

Some work was done over the weekend, time consuming jobs.

Subframes and trailing arms were painted this week.

Turner front and rear subframe reinforcement kit welded on. Rear was a must since it had started to crack already.

Rear subframe reinstalled with the Turner control arms instead of the GC ones.

Rear struts reversed and nitro reservoir relocated.(Block off plate will be done)

M3 engine plate and lolllipops installed. Previous owner didn't know the importance of this plate. Good for downforce and front subframe rigidity. GC lollipop bushings are coming this week along with spherical sway bar links and inner rear subframe spherical bushing as well. Didn't find anything better than stock one for the outer trailing arm bushing. I guess M3 ones will do the job.

Turner carbon brake backing plates installed with new front hubs.

The Setrab oil cooler needs to be relocated as it was installed behind the radiator???

This custom radiator needs to be replaced, it's getting tired and the previous owner had some overheating issues. A bigger core will be used.

This custom GT Racing splitter will be used. Expensive (1200$) but a really nice piece. The rear part of it sits on the engine plate.

Parts will come in this week. Second batch of VAC engine parts ( SS Headers, STG 3 Head, cams, Tilton 5.5 " clutch, misc engine hardware) along with some GC parts.. The Bimmerworld M3 E46 racing exhaust system will get here today. Hope the fit with the headers wont be a big deal.

Engine work will start as these parts come in. Still have to decide what to do with the monster red intake, modify it or use the oem one. We plan on running this engine around 7K rpm and keep a decent amount of torque. I think this intake will be to big for this setup. It's basically a copy of the Schrick M50-M52 intake. The ports are far from the M54 head, and too much torque will be lost.

Stay tuned, more to come!

Marc

Second batch of VAC parts came in, so engine work will start

CP 13: 1 Pistons

Vaio76109 modified oil pump

SS headers, Raceware studs and main, oil block.

Arrow rods, underdrive pulley for water pump and PS(Alternator is B.O.)
and the Vanos elimination kit.

and finally the VAC stage 3 head. The hardware seems nice but the porting job looks so so, we'll see.

Exhaust side

Intake side

Valvetrain

Some ground control parts also came in, so the suspension part of the project will be completed the Saturday.

Next update on Sunday

Finally, Schrick cams will be used, 272(In)/256(Ex). Mainly because of the rpm range we are targeting(7000-7200).
Also the stock ported M54 intake manifold with the Disa valve and 660cc/sec RC injectors instead of the Monster big red intake which is more targeted for 8000+ RPM.
We will maintain a 13:1 CR, even tough a spec fuel was imposed to us last week(Sunoco GTX 260, 98 R+M/2) We want the car to be easy to drive for the first year.

Last I talked to them, GC was talking about releasing a revision to that bar, so get in touch with them before you order, maybe you can be an early tester.

Forget about all of that tuner garbage sway bar stuff, go with real race parts like this nice straight lightweight tube:

On the other hand, I use a rinky dink stock rear bar (which is actually not even on the car right now):

Ahh, so that's how you get around the accessories, slick. It's easy enough to have a straight tubular swaybar made, the hard part is avoiding whacking into stuff down there, I like your little spacer.

Does that involve compromises elsewhere, like needing to cut any of the under body plastic?

Well I think anyone would be a little foolish to pay $1500 for a sway bar, but the kit *does* come with those nifty little spacer brackets.

It does mention that it interferes with the AC compressor (I knew it was one of those accessories) even with the nifty spacers. Bummer.

I'm close to 20K$ invested on this car, I think the car owner wont mind the extra 1.5K$

The attachment is BMW Motorsport but the bar has been redesigned to allow twice the amount of adjustment which only comes from me. Thing is, you need to reinforce the pickup points (take a close look at my pic) because it'll rip them right out of the car.
