You need a flattop upper and a rail system, and a barrel nut if the rail system does not come with one. If you have the standard AR barrel nut, many rail systems use this and you'll be fine. It all depends on the rail. You will also need a vise and a barrel nut wrench. Many rail systems that have their own barrel nuts supply their barrel nut wrench with it.

For the upper, you ideally want an M4/A4/N4 upper with feed ramps. A3 uppers are a last resort.

I know I hated my gooseneck on my A2, which would be why I never qualified with the red dot and left the rifle in a rack all year while deployed.
Our old SWAT rifles, which were DRMO Colt M16A1 Carbines were equipped with goosenecks and Trijicon Reflex sights. We had a lot of problems with the gooseneck mounts and they didn't hold zero well. When they were taken off for maintenance and then put back on, they always had to be rezeroed. this is really common with all carry handle mounts, not just goosenecks.

Supply is meeting demand. I wonder how those individuals who spent $70 to $90 per magazine on GB are feeling now. The sellers sure capitalized in this instance. Glad I got my Brownells order for the 10pk at $125. If they drop back down to where they were prior to all this hysteria I'll pick up some more.

came today. milled construction, very solidly put together. nice height, eye relief. didn't fit my cheapo scope tho, the mounts are too far apart for this old scope.

Still checking gunbot religiously... Natchez just listed some at 70 cents a round which isn't bad... but they want 17 bucks for shipping on all orders up to 100 bucks.. I was going to order 3 boxes and call it a day at around 40 bucks... but with shipping, it gets to almost 1 dollar a round... f that
