I remember hearing about an "engine subwoofer" on the Z4, this must be what they were talking about

One of the reasons why I have a BMW is because of the sound insulation.

More retarded than your grammar?

Wtf are you talking about, in the process of doing what? Are you implying this mod adds weight, ie this piece of plastic that weighs all but 4 ounces lol... Or is it any more retarded than those who spend $300+ on an Afe intake for louder intake and LESS hp? Because if so I suggest you calling out half the fanatics here, ha. I find that hilarious if you ask me, a cheap oem part with a purposeful design (whether you agree with it or not) gets more crap than a pos aftermarket mod which costs 3x and makes your car worse off is deemed ok.

Ugh, lots of ignorant comments in this thread. Comments on how BMWs are supposed to be quiet, etc.

Did you people read between the lines? Do you realize this was engineered and implemented BY BMW ON A BMW?

Do you realize that BMWs (particularly your E46) in its stock form was still engineered to allow a certain amount of engine noise at certain frequencies to enter the cabin? (As well as all BMW models--they have an entire department at their design studios dedicated to this) Just because YOUR E46 did not come stock from the factory with this particular type of sound device, do not think for one second that your car wasn't tuned to reproduce intake/engine noise inside the cabin. This Z4 mod is just an added "active" approach for additional noise because hell--it's an open top roadster.

This modification just takes that same "engineered" sound and replicates it in a different chassis. Big f***ng deal.

You say BUT HUR MY CAR IS LUXURY AND Y WOULD U ADD NOISE? Do you realize that when you modify your suspension and tires, that you are allowing increased NVH? (If you don't know what the acronym stands for, you especially have no business commenting on this thread)

Have your preference, you don't need to like or NOT like this. But please refrain from making idiotic teenage internet comments. Different cars are tuned differently, whether it's towards luxury or sport. You don't want more noise, or a sportier ride? Then stay away from sport-package or ZHP-equipped cars.

I think the mod sounds great--and it should, it was designed by BMW.

A lip spoiler can be an OEM replica. Deal with it.

An exhaust is aftermarket, yet it doesn't involve routing a tube to it for the sake of more cabin sound. See how that works?

Too bad this mod isn't an exhaust nor aftermarket, it's an oem piece unlike your replica, see how that works?

You can justify replica eBay mods however you like.

AHAHA OHH KNOEZZ ITZ DUH GRAMMA POLIZE, I was being completely sarcastic. I found this mod to be pointless, and overrated, and im not one of those who spend over $300 for my intake, and there is dyno proven bump in power so GTFO with your trolling self. The usefulness of this part is null, and the weight comment was just another kick at this mods lame implementation.

And durr i know a z4 will walk me, when was that ever the question

Too bad this mod is NEITHER aftermarket nor an exhaust but rather an OEM piece. OEM > replica, see how that works?

If your BMW gets proper eBay mods, than what does your beater get? lulz

I don't like the concept of purposely and exclusively introducing cabin noise on an E46, OEM or not.
Don't get all worked up cause we don't agree.
