Stav's 330 N/A Progress Thread
Hey everyone, I've decided to start a progress thread which I'll be using to record all the Naturally Aspirated modifications on my m54 as well as the whole car in general. The NA topic has really picked up recently so I want to keep the flow going with another "build" thread. Please feel free to voice your opinion! I want to hear from everyone since I love good discussions and have a lot more to learn from those who are experienced.
I've been a bit "under the radar" so I feel this will give me a chance to be more interactive with all of you and allow me to share all my latest updates. As for the car itself, it's an '04 TiAg 330ci 6 speed with 95k on the clock. Performance wise so far are: -Technik Gen. 3 Headers -Dinan Throttle Body -Dinan Airbox -RPI Scoops -Active Autowerke tune -Rogue Pulleys -Magnaflow Catback -3.46 diff -Gutted roughly 300-350lbs off the car I hope to still keep gaining more from the car and looking forward everyones contribution

You've got most of the major boltons, all that is really left is cams and head work. When do you plan to strap her down?

![]() Exactly, those two are going to be the biggest jobs. I'm going to dyno before I do anything else with the engine. Then once I get those results, I'll send my ecu back to Active for a re-tune then another dyno, then cams/dyno.

The reason I wanted to get a re-tune before cams is because the tune I have now is dated and only set up for an intake. Since I want to have a pre-cam dyno I would like to have the car running as strong as possible.
And yes Schrick 264/248 I cant wait!!

You mind weighing your car? I'm weighing in at 3180 with me in it (205lbs). I'm curious to see what your sitting at. My car was a 330xi stock 3500+. Can't wait for the dyno, this is one we need. Time to see if the aa tune is worth it!

![]() Untitled by secono330ci, on Flickr So a couple days ago I caught my Valve Cover Gasket leaking again...I just replaced it about 5-6 months ago. Technik headers have equal length pipes so they're a bit tricky to work with. I ended up cutting my original heat shields which is most likely causing premature wear on the VCG. Even though I wrapped the top portion of the headers knowing this might happen..it's obviously not enough. So I've decided I'm going to remove them this weekend and send them out to Swain for ceramic coating (similar to what Brady did).

I'm confident in Active's tune, I just hope Viral can dig up a something for the Cams...I'm pretty sure he said they have a file for it. Thanks, soon I'll get numbers so it'll be great to compare set-ups! The coating was something I looked over it would have been a lot easier from the beginning. Now I'm just looking forward to having my engine temps drop so it's not a damn slug in the summer time.

You really can tell a difference in underhood temps.
I'm also going to be wrapping my intake with some stuff MrShelly suggested. Quote:

Get a good tool and drive around with it. Intake temps with my short air where 180ish. Dinan was around 80. My intake is wrapped in 3.5inch silicone coupler stock. GL on the dynos

When you get your cams stav, take it to the place I was telling you about and get a custom dyno tune. You will see more power out of a cutsom dyno tune where they write you your own software than an off the shelf tune.
And where did you take most of your weight out from? The ARC-8's wheel swap?
