Instrument Cluster Lens

I just did the DIY to install some silver guage rings. I got some fingerprints on the inside of the lens, so I tried cleaning it off with some Windex. I got most of the prints off, but there was some windex residue left over. Does anybody have any other suggestions which is the best way to clean the inside of the lens without making a major project of it??

Use autoglass cleaner. It's ammonia-free so it will evaporate, and not leave a film like Windex will. You can usually pick some up at any local auto parts store.

Dishwasher??

Please explain the Dishwasher procedure! What kind of soap do you use, and where do you put the lens at???

Won't water damage the insides of the lens??

I would not put it in the dishwasher. There's a reason why they call it the dishwasher.

Yes. People generally use It for Cab Rear Windows.

for the instrument cluster inside, just use some of the anti static glass cleaner that is used for optics like glasses, binoculars. Should leave a residue and streak free finish.

lens

Im buying a 330 cluster. The smudges arent really that noticeable, but Im a picky mo-fo, so its bothering me. So, as soon as I get the new cluster, Im selling my front lens part with the rings in it.

Here's a close-up pic.

Did You remove the Lens and use the Mequirs Plastic Polish/Cleaner inside and outside as I instructed?

Just put in in the dishwasher without any dishes, a SMALL amount of detergent and make sure you have a rinse agent. It worked perfectly...

I'll never mess with those rings again though. The cable ties used to glue them on leave indentations in the rings...
