No noticable power loss. If anything I can probably feel a bit of a gain, but I think it's all in my head because of the sound Might have to dyno it.

$220 for labour which included cutting out resonator, weld on a straight pipe, weld on a Y connector to 320 rear box and then fit the 320 muffler. I didn't pay for anything else as I got it free.

Thanks for all the kind words guys. This mod was really touch and go as I had no idea how it would turn out. Nothing on youtube for e46 318 res delete etc. It's rewarding to take a risk and have it come off the way it did .

Bringing back an old thread.... I never saw this thread so Mitch that sounds great! I was reading up on resonator deletes as i want to do it to mine. People have said there are two resonators and you should only remove the one closest to the muffler because of back pressure issues? I take it that is what you have done... Also, how has the car been up untill now? any noticeable differences anywhere?

Love your exhaust setup, sounds good!!

I love rasp. I have an e46 m3 with a mille miglia exhaust, it brings out some awesome rasp!

So went around today to a couple exhaust places to enquire. One place was "booked out untill Christmas" with what looked like the better half of 2 cars in their work shop, and the other place pretty much said we don't usually weld on bmws because it causes "spiking with the computer", they said to go to Liverpool exhaust because they have "more advanced welding capabilities"... Dunno if BS or not. So my question is, Mitch where did you get yours done? The places around my area are hopeless!

Yes I did the rear resonator (the box just infront of the muffler box). No real noticeable performance gains, just a louder exhaust note with rasp. It doesn't sound that good when the exhaust is cold but once it warms up a bit the exhaust note sounds good. I'm sure it would sound better on a 6 cyl.

I went to Tuffy Toned in Rosberry. Install and resonator delete took 30mins, have a coffee while you wait. Be sure to book an appointment before going though.

Peter at Advan Performance Centre can hook you up as well. He's done many muffler mods on late model BMW's recently... head over to 1addicts/e90post to check out his work (eg: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=692664)

Thanks, will most likely go to Tuffy Toned as they are about 15mins from me compared to Auburn which is about 45min lol. Advan seem like they do great work, will definitely keep them in mind.

I wanted to do this aswell but just didnt look into it properly. If you delete the resonator, would there be any error codes? isnt there a sensor or something?

Btw Mitch, how much was it roughly to delete the resonator? if not, Steve! let us know how much it'll cost. haha thanks man

Well i was looking into it today and i didn't read anything about it throwing error codes, although i did read that you should only remove the one closest to the muffler - perhaps the second resonator has a sensor or something.

Pretty sure Mitch said it was around $200, but that was including the 320i muffler install as well.

yep should be <$200 for a res delete, although I've heard of people being charged around the $800 mark for resonator deletes at other places.
