Here are the settings in NERO (I used version 12) to burn CD's in order to play them in these radio's:

Sorry for that russian language in screenshots, the first screen is "No multisession", the others are understandable I guess.

I tried to build the aux and input cable into the CD changer input, but no success. To tie into the input for the CD changer, I spliced into the cd changer harness wire that goes to the trunk, and used the cap/res (2x 0.22uF capacitors and 1x 300k Ohms resistor) to trick the unit into believe there is an input, but when I press the MODE button (I have an alpine unit s/n ending in 072), but had no success (got the "No CD" message, which I think is from the internal player not the changer).

Any thoughts? I've tried this wiring setup a couple of times with no success.

That won't work! The HU needs to be able to communicate with the CD changer over the K-bus. It does not sense the CD changer by a resistance between the two inputs like the Aux input does. If you had a CD changer and left the digital lines connected and tapped into the analog signal lines this would work (resistor would not be necessary).

CD53 backlight brightness

When replacing a Blaupunkt with an Alpine CD53, is there an issue with the backlight brightness? I'm trying a second Alpine P/N 65. 12-6 927 902 on my '01 325Cic, thinking the first backlight was a dud, but both displays are about half as bright as the Blaupunkt was. It looks just like this first photo in another post, which appears to be a night shot with the buttons lit up:

http://www.e46fanatics.com/forum/sho...91&postcount=1

That's when it looks the best, but in the daytime with the top down the display is washed out. At night the radio display is as bright as the buttons so not bad, but does not "pop" like the climate control brightness. Does anyone know if there is something different in the Alpine headunit wire harness regarding the backlight? I noticed that the display looks brighter when looking down at it and dimmer when looking up, for whatever that's worth.

That's what the OP said, but mine did. So maybe some do and some don't? Try it and see.

I have the same unit but nothing is working

I have the same model cd53 P / no. 65.2 12-6 961 215 unit made April of 2006. I had bought the auxiliary input retrofit kit and no success just trying to use the auxiliary input. But my dad cut off the transistors at the end of the auxiliary input ( part that plugs into back of stereo) and straight wired it and it worked for a while. Then it just stopped working. So I bought another retrofit kit from ecs Tuning and it won't work. I only have FM AM and CD working. I'm wondering if there's some kind of reset I have to do to make it all work again, my car is a 2002 325 X I w/o Harmon Kardon but the head unit , I'm pretty sure is, truly a P / N0. 65.12 - 6 961 215 from April 2006 it matched all the pictures that you put and the sticker doesn't seem to be tampered with at all. To top it off when I did the region reset it said 14 06 referring to the week and date, I'm pretty sure.

I also recently installed a 65.12-6 961 215 in my 2000 323ci and added an AUX which I wired directly. I used my phone to test the AUX input, and it worked great, until I plugged the phone into the charger and the AUX disconnected.

I do not know if your AUX "retrofit kit" has (had) it built-in, but you likely only need a ground loop isolator. I bought one on eBay for $7 shipped and there's enough room behind the radio to place it.

I tried a cheap-o ebay ground loop isolator, and it's didn't work. I'm going to try to wire up like the factory harness and see if that works.
