My First BMW! 01 325XI

Hello everyone,

I recently bought a bmw 325xi, this is the first car from this century that I have ever owned. I used to own a RX-7 TII and subaru impreza. So a lot of the features are new to me like abs. I live in Troy NY, and we get a lot of snow so the car is going to fulfill its purpose and plow through snow storms!

anyways please fill free to give me advices on this car since I'm new to bmw but not to work on cars.

Welcome and congratulations. Just for starters, get the windows tinted(Privacy and protection for your leather int.). For $20 bucks, you can buy a Headlight Restorer DIY kit at your local auto parts store...fairly simple. You can also change out your lights like RCR for your taillights, clear corners, and clear side markers. And of course you can always get a change of wheels, some 19" sporty looking staggered set. Good luck and keep us posted with your new changes.

Ha E462nv., you read my mind those are my near future plans, are your headlights stock? Mine don't have the projector and angel which is something that I would like to have. Would you recommend to retrofit mines or just buy a pair.

Also is 19" too big? I would like to do the occasionally autoX

Try DDM Tuning and get a Depo HID projector kit. Much Much better than the original lights. Some may hate on this idea, but I've had mine over a year now and no complaints...just much better clear light for safe night visibility.

Thanks guys,

I think headlights will be the first thing, I hate the cloudy lights. then wheels, suspension and brakes. I have been reading about VANOS and I'm concerned that my car will need that done. Is there a way to check if that has been done by the previous owner? oh and I want to get ride of the cdv I hate the soft clutch!
