100K Coming Up

Hey folks,

My 2001 330Xi is sitting at around 93k and I am starting to plan for routine maintenance this April. Below is a quick history of stuff that has been done. I need a little advice on things that have not been fixed that should be.

2/6/06 (57k) - New Rotors / Brakes
2/20/06 (57k) - Camshaft sensors
3/31/08 (70k) - Idler pulley, brake fluid flush, FCAB, Drive belts, fan clutch, thermostat, expansion tank, water pupmp, radiator, fan shroud
3/31/10 (86k) - Oil Level sensor, spark plugs
12/22/10 (91k) - New rear springs, new front struts/springs, new strut mounts, rebuilt CV joints/boots
1/11/11 (92k) - Left/Right stabilizer links

Below is what I plan on doing:

Automatic transmission Flush / Filter
Differential Flush
Valve Cover Gasket (small oil collection on heat shelf above exhaust)

Below is what I'm thinking of doing:

DISA Valve
VANOS Seals

Anything else the forum would recommend?

jim

Do the transfer case fluid and both differential fluids.

Don't buy a DISA unless yours is broken.

Also do coolant flush and brake fluid flush again. Power steering fluid too. Also think about doing RTABs soon.

And fuel filter. Replace your fuel filter too.

To sum up, replace all the fluids, do the VCG, maybe vanos, fuel filter, and start thinking about RTABS.

Thanks...I've been pulling old PS fluid out of reservoir and replacing it with new stuff and letting it mix in; however, I haven't fully emptied and refilled. I'll add that to the list.

That should be fine- I do the same but if the fluid ever got real nasty I'd flush it. Probably just replace the whole p/s reservoir at some point. I understand it has a filer built in.

just wondering, were all these repairs preventative or necessary? thanks.

A little of both:

2/6/06 (57k) - New Rotors / Brakes
- This was preventive

2/20/06 (57k) - Camshaft sensors
- I had a huge puff of smoke come out of my car when this went. The car drove ok afterwards. This falls in the necessary

3/31/08 (70k) - Idler pulley, brake fluid flush, FCAB, Drive belts, fan clutch, thermostat, expansion tank, water pupmp, radiator, fan shroud
- This as necessary. My fan shaft bearing locked up on me which shredded the fan blade. Fan blade fragments tore up radiator, hoses, expansion tank, etc... This is kind of a known issue. Mine happened at exactly 70,000 miles.

3/31/10 (86k) - Oil Level sensor, spark plugs
- Spark plugs preventive
- Oil level was flakey so I would classify this as preventive

12/22/10 (91k) - New rear springs, new front struts/springs, new strut mounts, rebuilt CV joints/boots
- I had my 330xi lowered for a couple of years. I always had some noise afterwards so after I saved enough money, I did all the work to restore to original OEM parts
- This was preventive but would have never been necessary if I didn't jack with the car's suspension. Downside, it looks like a four-wheeler versus before.

1/11/11 (92k) - Left/Right stabilizer links
- Same as above. Car drove fine but had a rattle going over bumps.

What he said.

Also, clean the ICV and inspect your intake track while you're in there.
