wowww.... finally found drift thread
I live for drift. I really wanna be a drifter someday. Right now i'm helping my cousin if he come to USA. He compete in FD USA also Asia. He sponsored by Achilles, one team with D. Saito and R. Nishida. Anyone guess? ![]() My first RWD car was mustang, then 240SX (S13), and now E46 325ci. Do anyone try to drift stock E46? I was try sometime, but looks not going well ![]() still saving to get LSD and coilover.

I might give it a shot if I can scrounge up some cheap 17's or something. Just have coilovers on the car but I've been wanting to give drifting a shot in this thing ever since I got rid of my 240sx awhile back.

haha already have the coils not so sure about the welded diff lol its my daily
how painful is it to drift with an open diff? ive done a quick slide with the bmw but nothing close to real drifting so I'm not sure. Never had a rwd car with an open diff

I daily on my welded and its really NOT THAT BAD lol. Not sure how drifting would be on an open diff though.

It depends on how you drive. Welded will definitely kill rears faster. my e46 is my first "nice" car lol so welded diff daily isn't really my plan. If I could afford LSD I totally would in a heartbeat.
If I didn't just put new Star Specs on my car maybe for welded but ya know.. could always get a spare welded and swap it for drift days? not sure how much of a pain a bmw rear diff install is

It wears my tires slightly faster but nothing painfully crazy. My tires really only skip when turning intoa parking space or a tight turn otherwise i don't really notice much. And as far as swapping diffs before events, i couldn't imagine doing that lol. I hated the install the first time around let alone multiple times a year.

Yup ^^ driving a welder is not as horrible as a lot of people (who have never tried it) make out
Give it a go - if you really dont like it you can buy a replacement diff cheaply and put it back. |

yeah maybe i need to weld my diff. bcause last thursday i try to practice with my friend, and i can't do anything. not even donut. my friend said my car doesnt have power. but i don't think so, i guess my car has enough power to drift. it only doesnt have diff :p

Power wouldnt be an issue. People drift with low powered KA's and they do it. Welded diff will definitely help, and technique of course! What were you doing to try to break your car into a drift? Clutch kicking works amazing, i suggest giving it a shot and practicing that.
