I doubt that. You will spend countless manhours and will never accomplish what you think you will.

Unless you love to work just for the sake of working, go ahead. If you think that your fancy headers will gain anything more then the other ones out there, you're very mistaken.

We will see :-) What do you think that I think that I will accomplish?

Do you have dyno sheets you can post of other headers (ebay, active autowerke before discontinuation, supersprint) on the M52tuB25? I saw iceman's dyno thread, but there didn't seem to be much there for that engine.

Remember that the M52tub25 = M54B25. The M54 is blessed with a better manifold, lighter pistons and a better ems system. I would base my header design on the VE of that motor as apposed to the M52.

The equal length Technic headers and ebay/Super Sprint headers seemed to produce about the same peak power, but the Technic headers usually boast a bit more low and mid range power (not always). Of course the sample data of both is rather small (very low for Technic). The limiting factor here may be the head itself.

The torque curve of that engine would likely depict its different intake system. I will investigate torque curves and possibly plan for that intake, depending on expense. My intake seems to be really long. What is the approximate length of the M54B25 intake?

None of those headers are scavenging properly, even the Technik ones. For proper scavenging on an inline 6, in a 6-2-1 system (which they all are), you want to collect cylinders 1, 3, 5 and 2, 4, 6. Probably the reason for this incorrect header layout is that there is a packaging problem with this, as cylinders 5 and 2 need to be crossed over, and a flange needs to be added to be able to separate these headers from one another for installation and removal.

Dont have any dyno sheets as im away from home, but ive yet to see or hear of any headers that are able to produce more noticeable hp then a no name brand given they are tested on the same motor where the only variable are the headers. Regardless if they cost 50 or 1500 bucks like the active auto, theyll make same peak hp,where as some will have a 1-3tq difference in midrange but top out identical. I made my prediction in the beginning and ill stand by it given the head is untouched and no custom tune, like stated in OP. If you plan on swapping intake mani, you might pick up a few horses but theyll be high up top in the rpm range and not very usable, but they still count.
Ill be subscribed for updates, and I would like to be proven wrong.

Here's a start. That 18.00 means I measured 18 inches. I don't hold that to the hundreth tolerance, it was a compilation of my measurement and where I took the decimal. I'm sure they aren't holding a tolerance of 0.01", although I'd like to think so. Hopefully, the other 3 primaries are able to meet the 18." length requirement.

Nice! Do you plan on making a jig for this header, or is this going to be a prototype only?
I myself would like a set like that.

I could reproduce these, but I'm sure they would be cost prohibitive. They would likely cost about the same as the supersprint ones. If the dyno says they make more horsepower, then perhaps it would be worth it, but we will see. Theory says they should, practice (according to the guys above) says they won't.

I got the headers 85% welded this weekend. I was tied up doing some other things around the shop. Here's a pic of one of the welds.

And one of the sets of primaries:

I went ahead and back-purged them since my buddy had a rig already set up. The back-purging helps much more with thinner wall tubing, but it still made the welds shinier on this thicker stuff as it helped cool the tubes slightly faster and kept the welds protected on both sides of the weld.

I still need to weld the primaries to the collectors and then onto the engine flange, but that's about it. Then I have to make the final collector and build the rest of the exhaust. The exhaust will only take a day to do, there's not a whole lot to it. The last collector and the 2 secondary pipes should also take about a day including finishing the header, so I hope to have this done in 1 more weekend of work. Unfortunately, I am still waiting on my Stromung muffler to come. I hope that comes this week.

Regardless of what side of the fence you are on this... it's pretty cool. Wish I could do it.

also..here is an advice for you...make sure the headers clear the engine drain plug. the technik headers doesn't clear the engine drain plug and you can't properly conduct a coolant flush

Nice, do you have a dyno graph and list of other mods on the car? Those are the ones I'm most interested in comparing against.
