just wondering if you guys weight lift and do cardio in the same workout session ? or separate ? morning then night ? or separate days ? cardio only days ?
i was told after heavy lifting for 1-1.5 hr you will start to burn muscle for energy? thoughts? |

If you can separate the two by about 6 hours. If not do it after lifting. Although that's even debatable.Heres a decent article

Haven't hit the gym much. Working twelve hour shifts in the city. I'm posting from my phone.. On a delivery haha
I've already lost five pounds and I'm maintaining my strength. Benchd at my friends house last night and did well with no supps. OxyElite Pro is amazing. Helps suppress my appetite and focus on my cut. When I do cardio I treadmill 2-4 miles walking up max hill and jogging/running intervals. Walk/sprint intervals for 2 miles on indoor track. Stairmaster or elliptical for half an hour. Boxing heavy bag for 8-10 three minute rounds with pushups between rounds. Hit the speed bag for 4 one minute rounds

I do it all the time and I'm still getting bigger and hitting PR's. I should probably say I'm not trying to get Frank Zane big. I am however looking to pack on as much lean mass as possible while maintaining athletic performance.

I read that your body stops producing growth hormones (or significantly drops off) 50 to 60 mins from the onset of heavy exercise. It takes about 8 hours to start this again.

I agree, despite the existence of so many varying philosophies regarding this topic.

As long as you give it the right fuel and give it proper rest/maintenance, you can train all day every day.

![]() If you want to be anal about use of words... you train all day, and you rest all night.

I work at nights so my days vary. I usualy do cardio x 3 per week either treadmill or outside. Outside is done on the days I do not train and treadmill on the days I train. I do more treadmills since it is the rainy season, but will move outside once the weather gets better.

When I'm doing cardio too, it's always after weight training. This is especially helpful in burning fat in the area that you just trained. I remember reading that a while back. HIIT is the most beneficial for burning fat & maintaining muscle.

I don't necessicarily mean actual spot reduction, but the area that was trained did show more fat burning activity than those who just got on a treadmill or elliptical trainer. If I could actually spot reduce, this Eviscerate would give me chiseled abs! Lol

up to you. There is something wrong with your effort if you still have energy after working out to do cardio and vice versa.
If you lift, lift hard...you should be spent. If you do cardio, push yourself. you should have no energy to lift also after a good cardio session. Don't be one of these casual people on cardio machines going for 30 mins and not breaking a sweat. I lift in the AM, and play basketball during lunch hour at work. I can't do both right after the other or else my energy wanes.
