Subframe crack how long?

Went to the mechanic was told it has hairline crack in the subframe. They also told me you probably have 10k miles before it gets really bad?

Is this true? I don't abuse the car or anything I long can I keep driving like this?

Thanks

BTW for anyone reading this thread and wanted car info, my car is an 05 325i SULEV with almost 100k miles everything stock.

i would get it repaired ASAP. it could technically rip out of your car tomorrow and your car could fall apart and explode on the highway. literally.
probably won't happen. but could.
i'll buy the car from you for $1k as is if you need that.

there's no way to tell how long it will go. and it's not the suspension but the actual rear subframe. so everything in the rear end. bumps and things don't cause rips. it's the torque from the driveline.

it's considered very dangerous though. it could go another 200k miles. it could go another 60 miles. there's no way to know.

What car do you have? Read threads with 'subframe' in the title and you'll learn all you need to know about it.

It's serious. The rear axle carrier holds your rear wheels and diff...it's held on by 4 bolts. The cracks you have are where two of them bolt in, and when the cracks get back, the rear axle carrier is basically floating on two bolts. It's not a good thing.

This is the time you can do something about it, and if it's a minor tear, read up on possible solutions. At the least, it's under a thousand in most places...at dealer, with 'official repair' with new floor, it's $5,000.

Read the threads. You won't stop it from getting worse, but I would certainly take it easy, slow down over bumps, cut down on the drag racing and drifting sort of thing.

2005 325i M56.

Right now I'm even debating selling it and not dealing with it at all, and buying a lexus or something instead. Just debating of whether to keep putting money into this car or just buy a more reliable brand.

The E46 is a reliable friend. Except it won't put up with your shit if you're a bad friend.

Like I said, ill come pick it up for $1000 if its in good condition otherwise.
Bmw is a fairly reliable brand. This subframe thing was a pretty bad fluke and its annoying bmw didn't offer a total recall

Lol just saying! If he wants out ill come get it this weekend. That's a hell of a lot easier than parting it out or trying to sell it as is without fixing the problem.
I also offered helpful info early in the thread suggesting that he fix it because it is dangerous. So I'm not that bad

you should just come and pick it up for $0! It needs a few other things, subframe, minor gas leak by the tank, which would probably all be covered under bmw warranty, left brake caliper, and there is a minor oil leak.

Also, the guibo and transmission mounts need to be replaced have the rear right tire which vibrates, which might be an axle boot.

The problem is even if all of these problems are fixed, will i need to rebuild the transmission reverse gear ect.

When you think about these cars have some serious issues, you don't hear other brands replacing drive shaft bearings or buying a whole new rear driveshaft lol. That's ****ing crazy, repair subframes, you pretty much need to take bmws crappy **** apart put the car back together new, rinse, wash and repeat.

Whatever we'll see what happens. I really want to keep this car but not with rebuilding everything in it.

if you think of keeping it i think while it only began devolving only a hair line just repair it now as later on it will get bigger and bigger like Anal sex, but if youre selling it you should atleast tell the buyer that it does have a problem with the subframe how ever there isnt much to say or judge how bad it is when we havent seen detail/pics/videos/nudes oops

Is this a comedy thread? I just saw DMAX had a comedy show tonight is this the afterparty? Going to look up his 8 minute video on youtube maybe next time i can go at "the laugh factory" when dmax gets big or when he washes out like Gilbert Godfreid, hopefully not the latter.

I saw him there for a comedy show afterwards he was selling CD's, I'm like god what happened to you Gilbert shaking my head lol.

What a minute. This happened on an 05? I might sell my 323 and get a five series.
