What about turn around? I think I'm a bit confused. We take our ECU and send it to them and they ship it back? I'm just trying to figure out how long I am bumming rides for.

You are responsible for getting your DME to AA. They ship 2nd Day Air back to you. It's an additional $27 to get it back Next Day Air.

Here's a good question: If we get in on this group buy (and are fully paid) is there a time limit to send in our ECU's? I'm asking because I've been sitting on my headers since Anthony's last group buy while debating exhaust options and I'd love to lock in the price for this software even if I won't take advantage of it for a month or two...

Jean said anytime. Just pay to get in on the GB price, and then if you need to wait 3 months, go for it.

$300 is a great deal. I talked to Jean about it, but here's the thing. Normally, if you wanted an NA tune plus cat delete for headers, we're talking $600. This is half price for a lot of people. Serious deal.

ASAP.

No tuning company will make you pass emissions. AA and ESS both turn off the readiness (so you don't get a CEL). Basically, the car doesn't check, but you'll have 2 monitors "Not Ready".

If your state is cool with that, you'll pass inspection. Some states allow for 2. Some states (Texas) allow for 1. The only way I was able to pass inspection was with the LC-1. If you want one, PM me, I need to work out a deal with someone (read: cheap LC-1).

Hey aggie they can also not turn those 2 o2 sensors off right? Cause i have race cats with o2 bungs installed so i don't want to mess with the lc1 stuff.

Right. They won't be touching mine. My LC-1 is working flawlessly.

If they custom tuned your dme, your better off with that. You should probably look into the lc-1 or o2 sims if you haven't already.

FYI (IF YOU HAVE AN MS43 DME) BMW released different spec emissions for rest of the world cars. I'm running an euro 3 spec tune Which gets rid of the secondary air pump and CEL and successfully passed emissions.

With that said there is also an euro 2 tune available from BMW themselves that takes care of the SAP CEL, and CAT 02 Sensor CEL's. In the case of the Euro 3 tune the air injection monitor shows as N/A rather then not ready allowing it pass; In the case of the euro 2 tune the catalytic would show N/A although at that point I doubt an inspector would let you pass even if the computer ok's the car since all new cars should have a catalytic/02 sensors/02 sensors heater monitor.

It would be great if AA and other tuners could adapt BMW's code found in euro 3 and euro 2 tunes that specifically and successfully turn off the monitors and let you pass emissions tests and implement it into their own software although at that point they would have a legal issue on their hands since they would market it as emissions friendly and that's a no no according to federal emissions law.... idk

You are more then welcome to try the euro 2 tune and seeing if you pass.

If all you're after is an emissions CEL's delete and have an MS43 DME-- flashing an Euro tune unto it is the most cost effective way to accomplish this.
In the M3's case it would be best to run the tune with headers or euro cat's since that is what that tune is specifically tuned for unfortunately Euro M3's had SAP and post 02's. European M3's had less restrictive headers and exhausts. The Euro M3 has been found to liven up the engine but should optimally be used with high octane gas and headers to really benefit.
all it takes is a $30 EDIABAS/INPA ebay cable, some computer knowledge, and an old laptop

Any performance gains by running euro tune's have not been documented yet and may differ from car to car.

Best of all this is that it is all reversible.

Again this only works with MS43 fitted cars

IMHO, spending 300 or 600 dollars on a mere 7 to 15 horsepower is not worth it. The same performance can be gained by simple loosing 200 pounds out of the car. Then surpassed by fitting headers, lightweight flywheel along with a software update Wether US spec or Euro.

Good info for a lot of people, but don't forget there are people on here who already have headers, intake, lightweight flywheels, pulleys, etc etc and for us that custom tune and the extra performance it brings with it is worth it.
