*UPDATE* It was the turbo that destroyed itself. I ended up going for a Garrett Turbo rather than one from the dealer, worked out slightly cheaper. Did the work myself with the help of my uncle...

Turbo blown up! Happened to me a while back on my 330Cd. Sudden loss of power, grinding noise, can't drive faster then about 30km/h. When standing still and pushing the gas a big cloud of white smoke comes out the exhaust. 100% blown up turbo. Not a huge cost, around 700EURO's...

Edit, sorry, didn't read the previous post!

Mad props to you! You know doubt feel pretty good about how this whole thing turned out now, considering your alternatives. If you don't mind asking, how long did the DIY take and what did the job cost?

I was rushed for time, but finances was also a big problem... I had to stop half way into it as i had to get back to Spain where i work. It took around a week to complete the job costing around 2000.

The main reason for the cost was I didnt go for a recon turbo, i decided to pay that bit extra and go for a new one. Also my exhaust had been completely flooded with oil and the Pre-CAT and the CAT had completely been ruined - Tried initially draining the exhaust, but it failed its emission test, so for the exhaust i ended up getting a salvaged one.

The turbo blowing was an absolute disaster...
