Your Gandermountain link is broken. Can you repost it? I'd like to see which one you liked.

I appreciate the bimmerforums thread you posted, but I am interested in putting cup holders in the back seat, not the center console in the front. And that thread is for an E34, not an E46. It's a great looking cupholder, but won't work in my car. Thanks, though.

Interesting, worked for me. Here it is again, and I included pics. The black flange is supposed to slide down behind the middle seat. Don't know if t will fit in a vert. Sedan i different.

the seats in cinnamon to match the door panels and armrests would look so much better, didnt you say you were going to get another set of seats? imo leave it black until then. how big is the tear?

It's big enough to where I can't fix it.
And the new seats I'm getting are gonna be all black buckets.

I don't think that would last very long with me.

I'm still weighing my possibilities.

Fixing top hydraulic line?

I took a look at my top today. There has been a leak on the left rear side. It seems one of the hydraulic lines got pinched during the top operation and I saw a rupture in the line.

Now how do I fix it? The particular line runs from the solenoid to the left hydraulic cylinder. The cylinder itself is good, no leak at all.

I can access the end at the hydraulic cylinder easily but the other end at the solenoid is a little hidden even though I can see it. There is barely any room to work there.

Thanks for any help.

She's lowered

My wife (not mechanically inclined) finally took the car in to the "recommended tire specialist" on Tire Rack's list of "To go to" guys (being that I'm not stateside right now), and the results are exactly what I expected! Can't wait to see my M in person! Of course, I presume the car will be even lower in about 2 weeks. The setup right now are just H&R Sport Springs. Alignment was done as well! Let me know what you think!

Are the LED's plug 'n play

Hi to answer your questions:

Why do the lights cost more - it is simply supply and demand - there are fewer e46 Cic's therefore there is less opportunity to recover design and tooling costs. Try buying parts for a right hand Cic - they are typically 25% higher since there are fewer right handed cars.

Are the LED's plug and play on an 02. I assume you mean model year which would be an 01 production date. The lights will connect to the harness but you will get errors on your cluster and they will will function erratically.

You need to check to see if your light switch supports LED. I can't recall the production date but I think it was prior to the facelift. You can verify at real oem the part numbers. On my 01 Cic I had to source a new light switch.

Once you have the correct light switch they are still not plug 'n play. You will need to have the LKM (light control module) programmed to support the new lights. Find a friend with GT1 or other OBD tool to activate the module. The Stealer will do it for a price (between $75 and $120) I imagine.

Convertible top hydo pump is kaput

Hey folks,

I posted this in the general thread but was ushered over here by Smuuuuv and mebbe I'll get more traction?

From the original post:
On the drive home today I heard a wonderful gurgling noise coming from the passenger side rear on my 2002 330 convertible. The cabin and trunk area smell of hydraulic fluid and the convertible top won't operate. I have no idea if its a hydraulic cylinder or just a hose that has failed and no way to fix it .

Now the update:
I took it to the shop and they told me that the main hydo pump is toast and it needs to be replaced before they can do any further troubleshooting.

Since the main pump is on the LEFT side, and the sound was definitely from the RIGHT I am concerned that the main pump is only the first of a couple issues here. I've already sourced a used pump from ebay for $300 (the stealer wants $1,042!) And it has a 3 month warranty.

- Has anyone done this job before (replacing the main pump?) How difficult is it?

- I understand that I have to do this job starting with the top in teh fully stowed (down) position. The buttons still work to unlatch the top from the windshield but can someone tell me what I need to do to get the top stowed from there since the pump won't work? Is it a matter of just muscling it?

Any advice?

Thanks guys and +1 on the thread - I think we should have our own forum!

Q, same thing happened on my car 4 years ago. I had purchased a pump on this site via the parting out section of the forum. Check there as you may end up finding it for less than $300. My indy shop charged me $400 for the install, bleed the system, and reprogram the top. Too much of a risk to try to tackle it on my own so Id rather pay the money and have it fixed the correct way. Call up a few indy shops.

Q
theres a section in your owners manual to show you how to put the top down manually... there should be a tool behind/near your middle section of ur rear seat and you use that to crank your top down by the interior lights up front ... but like mentioned in previous post... not something you wanna try if you havent done it before..better just to pay a qualified indy BMW shop to do it for you...doing that yourself is a lesson that you may not wanna learn... .... and its SMUUUUUV.... 5 U's...

Do you guys know whether verts corner flatter than our coupe counterparts due to the thicker sways or are the thicker sways in place because our cars are slightly heavier than the coupe and hence our car still rolls the same amount?

I ask because the vert sways are quite a common upgrade to the standard coupe sway/roll bars.
