AAAGGGGHHHHH!!!!

So I put my top down, and now it won't go up. Crap. (I'm guessing the wiring, but...)

Is there any diagnostic procedure (beyond reading codes) that should be followed to troubleshoot vert tops?

Hey guys I am in the market for an E46 vert. If anyone has one that looks exactly like this I'll buy it! haha I've been looking since 2009 and I still haven't found one. Anyways when I finally get one it will look just like this:

Probably best if I ask this in the vert thread.

We all know that strut braces don't do much/anything (depending on who you ask) to provide extra rigidity to a coupe or sedan but what about to a vert?

I can't find any information on it in the forum so I want to put it to the vert owners.

Will adding a front and/or rear strut brace help with chassis stiffness?

The only area that would make much of a difference would be the rear. If any.
BMW made a lot of changes to ensure our chassis doesn't move around TOO much. Yeah, we flex, but not as much as people think.
I wanna get something like that, and I'll let everyone know when I do.

TO THE POSTER ABOVE ME.

Are you in SD? I see Coronado, so I assume the island..?
Bud, I can't believe you haven't found one. When I was buying my car, I saw at least 2 or 3 with those wheels and color. Didn't get them because they were automatic.

Yeah I found these two so far, but one of them has a salvage title and unfortunately I like it more. Plus is only has 52k miles vs. the 97k with the black interior. I really want that cinnamon interior, and I haven't seen it anywhere.

The cinnamon interior wasn't available in the non-M models... Sorry to inform you.
Some of us, including myself, have opted to dye the interior. I do not recommend it unless you have access to a paint gun and SERIOUS time in your hands.

Well this actually just popped up tonight and it has the dark tan leather! Maybe there is a difference between the cinnamon and the dark tan I am talking about? There must be, because the car I posted above is a non-M model and it has that color. Man I think this car is pretty hot, I like the dark blue, but prefer black and I hate the wheels. Navigation would be nice also. Man I am picky. BTW I'm David and yeah I live in Nado. Have you lived in SD all your life?

Ok, reasons to get that car:
RARE SMG transmission. I mean, RARE. Not a regular auto.
The interior is bomb.
The color is bomb.
The wheels are light. Some of the lightest wheels BMW made for our cars.

I say definitely get it dude.

And no.
Moved here from Brazil 5 years ago. If you ever want a ride to feel a vert, hit me up.

Can you elaborate on the SMG tran? I do like it, but if I am gunna spend that much money I want to spend it on something I truly want, which is a black one. I'll look it over and think about it. I am just so busy with school during the week, so the only free time I would have to go look at it, and its in Phoenix ) would be the weekends. Woah really? So you speak Portuguese? My friend and I are trying to learn. The world cup is going to be in Brazil next time right?

I installed one when my car was new with the hope that it would help keep it tight.
10 years later and I'm happy

You can't go wrong with the Oriental Blue color, and the interior is mint/two tone and its leather (vs leatherette) plus the SMG, id say get it, only thing that *I* would worry about is that its at 80k miles, but if you're willing to learn from the diy's on this forum, you should be fine, and the only problems you *might* run into are smg tranny issues, but just have a nice reserve in case that ever happens

When I was looking for mine, I saw a dark blue/blue top. Black is by far away my favorite color but if I couldn't find black, I was considering the blue. To me, it looks good, but I just really wasn't down with a blue top. Just my own taste, nothing at all against those who like that. My point is, I'm glad I held out and found the black, which is what you said you prefer.
