differential bushings

I was just told by my mechanic that these will need to be replaced on my car soon. Has anyone done this before & whats the difficulty ? Thanks for any feedback.

I believe that you have 1 differential bushing (located on the back of the differential - where the cover is) the other bushings are carrier bushings. Not trying to be a d!ck.

I think there are write ups on replacing just the differential bushing, and there's a good write up on doing the whole kit and kaboodle. IIRC, the biggest obstacle for doing any of the bushings, is getting or having the right tool to press the old bushings out, and press the new bushings in.

I appreciate the info. I was quoted 400.00 by my mechanic to do this job, & was curious to know if that was a rip, or worth it to have it done.

For just the differential bushing?? If so, you're not getting robbed. You're getting beaten, raped, pissed on, oh and THEN robbed....

There are many write-ups on this topic. Search.

I did this several years ago. Took me a full weekend, including Friday night. It is a royal pain to get the old bushings out, especially the large one in the rear (which is the one that fails). I had to cut it out.

$400 including parts doesn't sound bad to me.
