A personnel issue. That's how State Police are describing this video that went viral today after it was tweeted by pro-skater Tony Hawk. Read their full statement on our newsroom blog: http://bit.ly/168FwXs

honestly it doesn't surprise me. I live 15min from VA and i wish i lived farther. The police there are the rudest, most sadistic pos i have ever come across. Knowing what they do on a daily basis this cop wont even get a slap on the wrist let.

Yeah a state trooper tried to run me off the road. This was after I filed a complaint. From what I was told, it's very hard to sue cops in VA because they are protected by some unwritten law.

I thought that was odd too, that they blurred it out. From the video you can tell that it was on a college campus which is VCU.

That's retarded. Why would you run into a kid with your car? Stupid cop.

What would happen if I did that to a cop?

Not that it makes what they did any better, but...

the video appears to be edited and cuts out the part where they bring medical personnel to evaluate the kid after he was hit. The police didn't just peel out.

But who cares about details. I like your narrative better.

Re: VA State Trooper runs over Skateboarder

I live in Blacksburg, VA. Aside from the ability to open carry, worst laws ever. Worst cops ever; a friend of mine got a DUI at a local gas station, INSIDE the gas station while standing in line to pay for food. I am not surprised a cop ran over a skateboarder but I am surprised it doesn't happen more often. I have always lived in VA, started skateboarding when I was 10, and cops always treated you like a POS. VA = "commie-wealth".

Did anyone click the link??

State police is aware of this edited video as this incident occurred approximately nine months ago in the City of Richmond near the VCU campus. This is not the full length video. Virginia State Police has seen the full video and investigated the crash following Department policy and procedures. The trooper did stop at the scene and followed proper Departmental procedures. The individual was assessed at the scene by emergency personnel for a minor injury but was not transported from the scene to the hospital. This is a personnel matter and state police does not have further comment on this incident.

I agree with JJ. The cop should be subject to whatever punishment Joe Citizen would be for doing the same thing to a cop.

I mean, if a cabbie hit a cop standing on the sidewalk, the police dept wouldn't be satisfied with the cab company saying "we're aware of it, it's a personnel matter and we have no further comment".

Best cop ever. Glad he used common sense and didn't feel the need to wait for your dumbazz friend to get back behind the wheel and do some more drunk driving before arresting him.

You know the difference between a personal matter and a personnel matter, right?

I've lived in Richmond all my life and have never had a problem with police. And running a pawn shop, I deal with them almost daily. The video is edited...

Of course, but the mouth breather who typed that gem out doesn't want to acknowledge it.

Kinda looks like the cop wasn't paying attention. Doesn't make it right but some of you seem to think it was malicious.

Some of you also invest in bit coins and live at home. So what's the point in arguing?
