Experiences with The Judge?

This little revolver has my interest about as strongly as a S&W Model 629 .44 Magnum. I've heard they're relatively easy to conceal and great for snakes and other pests (using a lighter .410 round).

So... as the thread title says: Who owns one and how do you like it?

Biggest gimmick in the gun market today. They're not easy to conceal because they're huge, and they're great against snakes and pests because....granted it's not much good against anything else.

.410 shot shells are extremely ineffective against anything truthfully. Even if you get buck shot for it, it barely meets penetration requirements. FINDING the buckshot at a half-reasonable price is always a challenge too, as its relatively rare. The alternative is to shoot .45LC out of it. While 45 LC can do the trick - it still makes no sense to me. Finding any sort of defense ammo is near impossible.

Simply put - the Judge is the joke of the gun market.

There are much better choices. The effectiveness against animals and snakes etc can be argued but as for the self-defense end of the argument, it's not easy to conceal, quick draw, or control once fired. It's really more of a novelty. I wouldn't say it's a joke; but dollar for dollar there are better options.

If I were to be needing a revolver for pest control, I'd buy a .357 Magnum. You can buy the CCI shotshells in .357 or .38Special and use those for snakes and such with ease.
The Judge is a novelty gun. Not a bad thing to buy if you want something unique for playing with at the range, but that's about all it's good for. Taurus makes good revolvers, but they also tend to make numerous revolvers that are good for absolutely nothing. The Raging Hornet comes to mind also..
The fact that they advertise for defense use is basically just marketing at its finest. The only way to sell a gun these days is to market it as a CCW or home defense gun, or to show it being held by a cop or soldier.

Ahaha! I figured as much. If I do purchase one, it will be after my .44 magnum or .357 magnum purchase.

Thanks for the feedback.

My Ride: A car.
Looking at Taurus' site, they have a ton of "judge" models, lol.
There's a longer barrel version which would most likely up the effectiveness of the .410 shotshell.

I have no experience with it personally.

still kinda want though, haha.
