I knew someone was going to ask me that, I've added the link to my post above
Bear in mind that the iGO Android I posted above has U.S content such as poi, dem files etc

It's been a while since I've seen the iGO8 screen and since I don't have the Android Dynavin I couldn't test it out, let us know how you go with it.

Anyone got any ideas on this?

Basically we need to add a BT driver to the firmware.

Might be a bit off topic here, but Jeff - what are the chances of having the company upgrade the firmware on the radio side? Things like making the ipod screen look ok and fixing some of the issues with it(like track starting where it left off)...

Also, does the android side detect the microphone?

I doubt the Android hardware has access to the BT on the radio side. You would need a USB BT and drivers for the Android unit I would think.. I think the addition to this would have to be from Android and not dynavin.. Well, I guess dynavin could do it but it's probably a big effort.

Yes off topic but.....I wouldnt expect the kind of changes you are asking about, there have been 2 major updates to the radio side of the unit, the most recent one in march, they have been about functionality, and cleaning up some rough edges, not cosmetics. They worked on the ipod resume feature for months but no change so im not to confident there will be any change there. My guess is the appearance of the different sources is a product of the hardware running each part so I also dont expect things to change there. As it stands everything works pretty good (except for no ipod resume), it just doesn't always look consistent from one source to the next.

On the android units the internal mic is for bluetooth and the external mic is for android.

hmmm, so the iPod interface is independent of the radio?

When are you getting these in stock again? I might just go for it and worst case I sell it...

well the radio is made up of many modules, radio, ipod, bluetooth, dvd drive, etc... it seems dynavin can control the cosmetics of some (radio, bluetooth) and not others (ipod/DVD).

Honestly though, since I got the Android unit....I never even see the rest of the sources (except sometimes bluetooth).....I just got a 32GB SD card, between that and Pandora im all set.

Thanks, with my GTI, the stock navi had terrible ipod support so I used the included 30gb HD.. Only issue is that I had to organize everything in folders. I understand Android will setup everything by artist just like the ipod anyway, so you might be right I could probably live with the Android side for mp3. For some reason continuing where it left off is a big thing for me, sounds silly actually.

Looks like we have some solid navigation options... When are you getting this back in stock?

Well ipod resume is the most wanted feature so it isnt just you...

The android media player just uses the tags as far as I can tell, all of my music is already organized but android will sort it however you ask, just like an ipod. Ill have more in the next couple weeks but just like before, very limited quantity and they will go REAL FAST.

PM sent.

I'm assuming steering wheel controls are useless(besides volume) in the Android music apps?

That's what we want to enable the Android side of the unit to be able to connect to a Bluetooth device, so we can get something like "Torque" to work so we could get live data from the cars OBDII port:-

This would be a such a benefit to the Android side of the head unit to get real time data on the vehicle.

Being able to have this functionality would be such a huge benefit to everyone. There would be a wealth of data at our fingertips!
