i think its hands down the Dynavin man... alot cheaper and offers TONS more. plus most people who have OEM nav say it sucks anyway. If interested, im selling my V3 dynavin for $535 shipped since i ordered the new one. You wont have to worry about finding an offline program or data connection

So... I go ahead and buy a v5. Now it comes out that v6/android/new hardware has been in the works for almost 12 months... ??

Now I and many others are stuck with v5's, and they're going to be worthless. Why should we go upgrading to the next model every time Dynavin releases what is basically a fix for their already released product... big disappointment.
Actually, the Android version was known for a long time. There were rumors floating around back when the V3 was in development, but many people did not want to wait for concrete evidence to surface.

I don't see this as an issue. Companies like Pioneer come out with new in-dash navigation systems every year. For example, take the AVIC-N1, AVIC-N2, AVIC-N3, AVIC-D1, AVIC-D2, AVIC-D3. You could upgrade your stereo every time Pioneer releases one too.

To put it into perspective, the Android version is not "V6". In systems engineering speak, they branched development at V5 and made significant hardware changes, so it's now a new system which should be called "V1".

I propose that we start calling the Dynavin units something like "E46-W5" to represent the model, the navigation operating system, and the version number. For example, E46-W5 would mean that it's a Dynavin unit for an E46 running Windows CE, version 5. "E46-A1" would be the first version of the Android model.

Mine should be here Friday! I will be using a JB Iphone 4 to tether the 3G unlimited plan. I'll be playing with it all weekend, with my focus on an offline Nav solution while customizing it. I will post everything that I find.

**Question for the experts/Jeff: I am going to be upgrading my sound system. Probably 100%, leaving nothing from HK, in a few months or so. How will the latest "line out converter" firmware update affect my audio(speakers/amps) upgrade? I may go with a JL setup, or something similar. idk if that helps. ** If this was posted somewhere shoot me the link! Thanks in advance!

well, we are not using the line output converters anymore, there is an option in the software now. It is selectable so it wont affect your upgrade plans at all.

Nice! I'm also using an iPhone4 and will be getting my Dynavin-Android from Jeff on Monday. I will eagerly be awaiting you report on getting the iPhone to play nice with the Dynavin and what Nav solution you come up with. Thanks in advance for sharing.

ive also got an iphone 4.....no issues there, I turn on the hotspot, start up the dynavin and the wifi connects. Sometimes if the dynavin is already on before I start the hotspot I have to toggle the dynavins wifi off and back on to make it connect (got a widgit for that) other times it just connects. Still looking for the pattern though to see if there is something I can do one way or another to avoid that.....typical wifi....

I ordered it from another vender due to the fact that Jeff is out of stock and I should be getting it in this Thursday (Hopefully). I am very familiar with the Android OS and I have been with a Rooted HTC Evo (Evio 2.2+) Rom for just about close to a year I would say?. I love the phone and I am very well educated with the Android platform. I will love to help out the community in any which way I could with any info or apps that could be of assist. Cannot wait to get my hands on it myself

Laterz, Sim0n.

UPDATED: Jeff being out of stock, I misinformed others by mistake by saying he was on back order. Apologies.

the ipod portion of the unit is unchanged.....there still seems to be a little confusion here....as I have said, the android part is JUST REPLACING THE WINDOWS PART OF THE UNIT. This is the nav part of the old unit. The rest of the unit is identical, it even runs the same fimware. Radio, DVD, Bluetooth, ipod, USB, are all identical to the windows units.

By the way....I dont have them on backorder as mentioned above.....the limited allotment that I received is all taken. There will not be any more units available until dynavin puts them into regular production later this year, so dont try to order one, dont ask to put one on backorder....there aren't any.

Simon, by all means help us out here! The more of us that put our heads together on this the better the dynavin will be!
