I'm get upset that I'm doing this every time I go out side and see my car I just want to go for a drive ha. Motorcycles aren't fun like they used to be.....

I'm loving the E60 man, and I sold the 330 already and miss it a lot. I have a few plans for the E60 (keeping it simple). While I attempt to pick up a daily/project/track BMW. Who knows though, because I want to get another bike but deep down the wife wants a BMW and...well you know. lol

Miss it? Really? Get the new BMW Liter bike Its actually a little cheaper then the Japanese Liter bikes.

Ummm I'm sure it will be cheaper for you to buy some if you really live in Sweden.

WOWWWWWWWW... I went through all 8 pages and I to you! Thats pretty fukin awesome what you're doing. Fully restored engine by yourself, all labor done at home, and especially no garage??

Also I see that you're very mechanically inclined so thats a big . Have you done this type of work before? If I attemp to bring my parts let alone engine hoist, stand, and block/heads in my house I wouldn't hear the last of it from the significant other.

Keep up the good work and i'll check back later on the process. I wanna see the outcome and the newly refined rebuilt motor.

Thanks, and actually the apartment manager came up to me and was telling me he admired my car and ask what I did with the engine. In the end he wanted to know if a was a BMW mechanic(not by far) and if I could put cats on his E39 530. My roommate(female) doesn't really care as long as everything stays in my room or the back deck.

Yeah I really wish I ordered the pistons a long time ago but O well.....all I want is to be done before August 6. That includes a dirve down to Florida.

Yeah the pistons really do take time , i was told 6weeks , ended up being 10weeks
Although mine was custom too
Having a deadline when building an engine is a recepie for disaster, you should count on the engine not being done by that date, if it is then yippie

Yeah i do Yeah im about to buy me a kit , i just hate buying those unessescary parts of the kit

Yeah well hopefully I can get them when I told they would come. Still waiting on the machine shop to see what size bearing to get.

Anyone want to lone me money so I can finish sooner haha the Navy doesn't pay enough.

I've been eyeing the new BMW Liter bike a lot lately.

If I didn't dive into this I would have it already.

Does it matter if the rods go back in the same place and is there a such thing as cam bearings? Do I need new ones?

The cam blocks (or ledges) are the bearings, and unless your ledges show severe signs of scoring or other wear I wouldn't worry about it.

I'd find more importance in weight matching your piston/rod assemblies than putting the rods back in the same place (but others may have a different opinion.

Rings get really fragile with age, being that you've never(?) disassembled a piston before i would blame it on age/user error.

A new ring shouldn't do it though

I've broken a few rings myself

Taking rings off is done with a ring seperator(small tool you put in the gap and squeeze the ring out) Used rings do not extend much without breaking(though they shouldn't be reused so it generally isnt a problem )
