When DDM delivers my kit, is it possible to just swap bulbs for 35w h1s or is the ballast suited for 55w only?

ballasts are universal so any bulbs will fit. Since you already ordered it, you might as well go ahead and try it until you get replacement bulbs

If you go with a 55W set up i'd love to know the outcome. That would be cool if it worked.

I'll post some pictures when I finish it up. I'll even park next to my e90 with OEM D2S bulbs to compare the light output

Perfect but i'm also more concerned about how they affect the headlight as far as melting it.

Let us know, thanks.

My ballasts came with mounting plates. Drivers side I mounted the plate on an unused .75" long .25" width rod sticking out, between the strut tower and headlight assembly. Then secured it with a small amount of epoxy. Passenger side wasn't that easy due to the wiper fluid reservoir. I mounted the mounting plate on the plastic tire fender, above the tire, with two .5" screws.

Anyone have problems with brightness on their projector ? I think the problem might be the cheap replacement bulbs i bought on ebay. One of them has yellow residue on the spherical part of the bulb. covers about 30% of that little area shaped like a sphere.

Is the outside supposed to be sealed from the inside of the headlight ? with the bulb clipped in there seams to be a gap around the bulb holder plate where moisture could leak into the headlight. is that normal ??

I mounted the ballast at the rear bottom side of the high beam.

It is difficult to describe... though.

At rear bottom side of high beam (you have to remove the headlight of course) you can find 2 (or 3?) mounting holes.

My ballast comes with 3 mounting holes but they are not alligned with the headlight. But anyway I use 1 screw to mount it. And I use tie up for the 2nd. Also, I used 2 tie ups to put angel eye converter above the ballast.

So far they are quite stable staying there.

DDM Tuning has been taking WAY to long to even SHIP my kit. They give some crap tracking number from some bogus site coming from Singapore.

In the meantime, I ordered a kit from The Retrofit Source. 35w this time. I noticed my high beams were a 55w halogen bulb. When I was test fitting, I had left my high beams on and noticed a smell. I could see through the lens cover smoke.

I am assuming the burning is OK, and it is just burning off debris, dust and any hand oils from handing the housing. I really hope it is not due to paint I chose to spray with.

I ordered the whole kit from andrew at TRS and he was very helpful. I also add angel eyes and e46 shrouds.I installed like in diy but I drilled a 3/8 hole (hidden behind shroud) to run the two bi xenon wires through which appears OP didn't run this feature. Also used same home to run ae wires. Paint I chose was krylon fusion flat black Wichita looks nice but definitely kills the use of halogen high beams function. I will try to get pics up asap if atone has questions how I did mine hit me up.ps I chose to order bulbs and ballast from TRS so I had everything needed in one box.
