Upstate,NY Chat Thread

I'm bored at work so I've been looking at things to do in Cooperstown. I've found a few things that look promising, I am going to check them out Friday to see if they deliver. To give a rough idea of what I'm thinking: I figure we can meet up in Cooperstown if I can find a place photogenic enough or one of the local parks around the lake. After we get enough shots, we'll cruise around the lake then get something to eat and hang out. Two notable places that I've been looking at to eat (mainly because I'm craving BBQ at quarter after 3) are:

Redneck BBQ

Brooks BBQ

Brooks BBQ I have been to and can vouch for but it's closer to Oneonta. Upside the drive will be extended. Downside the route to get there is not that enjoyable, but we may be able to work around that if you decide that's what we want to do. Redneck BBQ I've heard great reviews about, it's in Cooperstown and they have live blues bands every once in a while.

Those are just some ideas for now. On to the other question regarding a caravan to Eurofest, I'm in. That falls on my off weekend and I'm not missing it. I'm ranting....

eurofest sounds like fun!!

May 22 is eurofest and romaine I've been trying to organize a eurofest caravan but until the meet in april I didn't have mixh interest, but I def want to arrange something like this for the show

I've been to BrooksBBQ multiple times (I have some friends with a cabin south of Oneonta). Brooks is amazing! It can get quite busy, especially during dinner time, but I think we'll probably be good if we go for lunch.

BBQ sounds excellent. First Sunday in June works for me...22nd is out and 29th is possible.

One word of warning. The road around the lake is absolutely treacherous for the first mile or so. I was bottoming out (all stock) at 10mph. Hopefully it's been re-done...but I doubt it. Great road to cruise on though and the park on the back of the lake is absolutely awesome and there are EXCELLENT photo opportunities.

I may be over doing it but we need to get a feel for who can attend and when. My work schedule makes me unavailable every other weekend. This is just a feeler for when everyone is available, I'll start with this weekend even though it's short notice. I'll stick to Sunday's because if memory serves me correctly someone is limited to those days and nothing is more relaxing than a meet and a lil cruise.

Which ever date has the most availability for everyone we will plan on for the Cooperstown meet. The second most popular date will be our rainy day fall back. Today I will be heading over to Cooperstown to check out what we're working with. I will check on the roads around the lake, scenery for shots and dining options. Check for a response this evening and forgive me for any type-os for I'll be at the horse track tonight in Vernon.

im down for a eurofest caravan, but if we do these meets on sundays ill never be able to go, I would sundays, and I cant take off that many days Saturdays im always free as of right now, im not sure how my new jobs will effect things, but if its a sunday ya can count me out

Went and checked out Cooperstown today. The drive around the lake is pretty good. 40mph around one side and some nice twisty turns on the other. Coming into Cooperstown is a little rough but no pot holes.

As for photo spots I found some with potential and others under construction. I took a couple inspiration shots for those more artistic and talented than I. Problem is I don't know how to upload them from my phone right now.

Once we get a grasp on the numer of people attending I'll contact the local establishments to obtain parking and lunch arrangements. Feel free to give any input or suggestions for this is my first cruise and I have no idea what everyone expects or is uses to.
