Took me a while but bought me my dream Kimber 1911

Been looking for a while for a nice new Kimber and saw this Raptor II in SS. Taking it out to the range tomorrow. I am a Glock guy, but this is pretty nice. Hope it shoots as good as it looks. Kimber makes good stuff.

Granted....this Kimber is what I was looking for in a full size 1911....you may not like the way it is dressed...but I got it for me.

nice, I was considering the Raptor for a little bit because of the unique serrations but I then saw the Kimber Super Carry that had a fishscale style which looked even cooler, lol. It's further down the list of my handguns to get though, so maybe one day.

Nice. Just remember-when it comes to 1911s, lube is your friend.

Yea, I have to get some slide glide. Just put 200 rounds through it today. Price was not bad....about $1375 new. My Glocks are my carry weapons. This is perfect for the range though. Had a few FTLs today but I credit that to the break in and not enough oil when I cleaned it late last night. Was a rush job just to take it out and shoot it. Very nice groups with this gun.

Kimbers have extremely tight tolerances; particularly in the chamber and feed ramp areas. More often than not, Kimbers have FTLs in the form of a stovepipe malfunction due to the crimping on the ammunition. If you have this happen anymore, you may need to start going through different ammunition to see what works best. Or just recrimp the ammo to a tighter crimp.

No stovepipes, just nose down issues on the ammo and only shoot quality stuff.

Tell you the truth.....I prefer my Glock 21 for self defense. The Kimber is nice for the range though. I bought it just for that. Groups are a tad better than my Glock 21. The thing with the 1911...they are picky. Still, only 200 rounds through it and have some Slide Glide on the way.

20 year military vet here and for some reason...just love the Glock for carry...different weapon though. Nothing like the feel of a 1911 though.:

The Raptor II is one fine tool though......

Thank you Sir,
I like it. Just put some slide glide on it tonight. Looking forward to taking it to the range again as I normally shoot every week. Just replaced the front sight on the Walther P22...fun little gun and will take that also. Still, have to say I have my Glocks as carry/duty weapons. They are not as picky as the 1911.

And...this gun was bought for shooting, not as a museum piece.
