WHat is the biggest tire for 17x8 et 20 on a e46?
Hi everyone, I've searched a lot for the past few days, but can not find solid info. Most people that run style 5s or style 19s with the e39 offset (et20) are very low and run 215 and 205. My car is a stock sport suspension 03 sedan, I don't want to lower it because it is my only car, and in the winter there could be a lot of snow/ice chunks on the road here in NJ and those can rip out my underbody plastic (ask me how i know
).Anyway, I am getting some (4) 17x8 with et 20, what would be the widest tire I can run on them, I could roll the fenders if need be, but don't want to do any other modifications and I don't want any rub, I often have people in the back too, so I need I really clean fit. Also I am not looking to run some extra wide tires, just stock widths or as close as possible. TIA

I have 225/45/17 on mine and it only rubbed when people are in the back or taking aggressive turns but rolling the fenders a bit will easily fix that

Look for a tire with a more rounded sidewall too. |
