Tires for 8.5" rim
For my stock height 325XI:
I'm picking up some TRMotorsports C2 17x8.5's and I'm trying to figure out the best tire size. I'm looking at 225/45/17, 245/40/17, and 255/40/17. The overall diameter of the 255/40/17 seems to be closest to stock but I'm not sure if 255 will rub. I know 225's will fit fine but I'm not a fan of the stretched look and I don't know how stretched (if at all) a 225 would be on an 8.5" rim. Any thoughts? I searched but couldn't find anything relevant to my sizes and the XI's. |

Searched some more, seems 255 fits fine on the back. Will they fit the front fine also?
EDIT: Just ordered 245/40/17. Last edited by xtascox; 05-31-2011 at 01:38 PM. |

I would have gone with a 235 width. What are the offsets of the wheels? What brand/model tires?
I probably couldn't fit a 245/40/18 with ET38 up front, depending on brand/model. I have 235/40/18 star specs and there's maybe 5mm between the tire and strut. |

^It's gonna be close! I'm not sure how wide the hankooks are. May need spacers up there.

Would 5mm spacers work with stock lugs?
Does the XI front have less clearance than non-XI? I talked to a member on here with the same wheels and 255/40-17's and he had no clearance issues on stock sport suspension. Given the XI sits higher that a non-sport non-xi, wouldn't one guess they should clear no problem. Last edited by xtascox; 06-01-2011 at 12:52 PM. |

Just thought I'd update and tell you guys that everything fit no problem. 245/40-17 on TRMotorsports C2's.

^dunno if 17 vs. 18 will make a difference.
A lot has to do with the tire brand/model. Not all 245 tires would fit with ET40 wheels. |
