GM5 Coding

I was wondering if anyone knows if a GM5 could be re-coded. For example, can you buy a used one and get it re-coded for your car?

My GM5 is pretty much dead and I am trying to figure out which route to take. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Other people use USED GM5 modules all the time.

The GM5 module is not VIN coded.

I guess you don't believe my PMs.

What is wrong with your GM5? Yes it can be coded for your car. I bought the spare GM5 module when mine broke but got fixed by the guy in this forum.

Actually it does store the VIN. However, the car doesn't care if it doesn't match (and it can be overwritten unlike in other modules)

There 3-4 distinct versions of the GM5 in addition to there being HIGH and LOW versions. Some versions will not work fully in some cars. So you may find that for example the side rear view mirrors don't work.
It is easier to just get the module repaired if it repairable.

And the last 6-7 digits of the VIN are coded into the module.
