Their programming doesn't suck like some of them. It's hard to tell how they have their workouts split. Looks like they are doing a strength, accessory lift, and then metcon.

I'd check them out if they had some type of on-ramp program or a beginner type class. If you sign up and they just stick you in class with 5-10 minutes of instruction before each workout then I would go somewhere else.

When I teach the CF level one class we do about 20-30 minutes of instruction. No complex lifts/strength lifts are typically in the metcon since doing any of those lifts fast for a beginner is just asking for bad habits to develop.

CF gyms that you want to stay away from are those that do 20+ minute metcons every day.

I joined for a month. And will join after the Xmas holidays. Did 2 classes so far. Intense I must say. Think I did 200 weighted squats last night. And over 160 kb swings during the workout of the day. Not to mention All the individual workouts before hand. Best part is coach stuck me behind this amazing milf whose in great shape doing squats. Her ass was 2 feet in front of me. Sweet Jesus. My knee is a bit tender this morning. My back feels completely sore along with shoulders. November is focus on shoulders. December we move to hips and so on each month it changes. I'm enjoying it a lot.

Why would each month change. Sounds odd to me.

robbing with a sword is a good thing

Because people pay absurd amounts of money for the service, why not pretend like they're the best thing since sliced bread?

I've seen plenty of cf boxes focus on everything at the same time. IMO, and probably all of yours, it makes no sense to focus on certain body parts each month. You may make great progress on shoulder for example but then you slack on them while focusing on other movements over the next few months.

bunch of my friends are into this crap @ about 170 per month... all to go work out in some ratty 80 degree warehouse with 900 year old equipment. It can be a good motivation tool to get you started, but **** is a fad.

the people that do crossfit also can't stop talking about crossfit.

Should have invested in it before it got big. Seems like it started with a good plan, but it's just become a cash crop now.

Everyone wants sexy workouts... this is how magazines like Mens Health have been so successful.. creating magical "sexy" workouts that will shred you up in no time flat.

Crossfit is all of these into one it seems... I actually value the workouts in principal, but the marketing behind it that creates the "crossfitter" is what bothers me. Crossfit gyms have lots of eerie similarities to cults I find!

Its not a gym, its a lifestyle.

We subscribe to the "we lift heavy and simple so that makes us better than you" cult.

you're right. Most people know how I feel about it. The workouts are some of the hardest around, especially at the RX weights, but the elitism makes annoys me. I do borrow a lot of their ideas when I program my stuff though.
