to the real experts on e46! whats your opinion?

my problem today is.... every time i step on the brake at low or high speeds... i get a bad vibration on steering wheel..... side to side....

Brake? rotors? i have to say... i have this rotor since 80k now 126k....

i would say its not the bushings... because when bushing goes bad... u hear clunk inside.. as if the car frame is going back towards u... means its lose.. or bad bushing.. i dont get that...

just bad vibration when braking... . acceleration is fine....

and another thang... how bad is to drive w CHECK ENGINE LIGHT OF oxygen sensor? ? ? i just order new ones.... 4" 1 week... 5 days to arrive....

could it affect my head intake gasket?

You have 46k on the rotors, it might be time to change. Check it out. Also check for loose/bad ball joints. Also check your front struts for leaks and/or failures. Can you tell if the vibration is coming from a particular side or no? Check the bushings anyway cause they might be bad and not quite to the point of clunking.

The O2 sensor only tells you that the exhaust is polluting the environment. You won't do any harm to the head gasket unless there's something else going on. If it's just your O2 sensor that's bad, you aren't even polluting the environment, your car just thinks you are. Don't worry about it.

Responding to your question doesn't allow me "Expert" qualifications, however experience may count for something?

Brake pedal oscillation is most common to warped rotor(s).

O2 codes are NOT always a failed sensor. The sensor monitors the exhaust stream which can be affected by lean/rich conditions. Example: a torn intake boot creates a lean condition picked up by the O2 sensor as it sends data to the ECU to trim fuel mapping to attempt to correct the condition. The code is mis-leading as pointing to the sensor where the actual problem is upstream. There are several factors playing into O2 code diagnosis. Posting your exact code(s) would be helpful.

Edit: Continuing to operate the vehicle with a severe lean issue may cause pre-ignition (ping). This is potentially damaging to internal parts identified by a rattle or clattering sound under load. To advise you to drive her and not to worry with limited info., would be a fail.

Sounds like a bad rotor, but could still be an FCAB problem. If you do need rotors Amazon has front brembos for $131 shipped.
