Tops Interchangeable with M3 from 3 series?

My top on my 2001 M3 is in need of a replacement so I fount a mint top from a 328i or 330i pre-facelift so I'm curious if BMW changed the top in anyway for the M3 or will it work?

It's the same, aside from the window trim.
Regular 3 series have it in chrome, you have it in black.

Interesting. My top has black trim around rear window. I wonder if somebody replace the top, or trim. My VIN says 330cic - not M3.

Are you talking your soft top or hard top?
I know the hard top will fit, but as stated, the trim is different.

Not sure about the soft top, but I would imagine they are the same.

The soft tops do interchange (no difference) and has been said, the only difference in the hardtops is the color of the trim over the side windows.

Yeah that's what I'm talking about. That's good to know that the hardtops are different.
