My Ride: 99 323i 2.5
misfire-all of them

driving saturday(97F) engine started running rough, ck engine light came on. got home and scanned for codes. got bmw-fc 238,240,243,239,241,242. all cyl misfire. bmw service manual read what code is, my scanner can retreve and erase. dont know what to test next.

My Ride: 323 Ci E46/318is E30
I had the following errors on my E46 323Ci: 228 , 227 , 238 , 242 , 243 , 241 , 203 , 202 and it was a vacuum problem, to be more specific #7 from the diagram below was broken.

Changed that return pipe and clear the codes and that was it, anyway if any of the hose from the diagram is broken your car won't work as normal,

So I'm sure that you have a vacuum problem, check for leaks, remove the "BMW cover" of your cylinder head cover, #11 form the diagram below.

P.S.: I've looked for leaks for about 6 hours and my mechanic found it in 30 sec.

internal leak in crankcase vent valve

after checking as sugested for issue of misfire all cyl./check engine light, found negitive pressure out of oil fill port. crankcase vent valve leaks internaly. thank you moise. now, does the intake manifold need to come off to replace c.c.v. ?
