having a bit trouble w/ aux mount panel

so I attempted to do the aux today and thx to the diy here it was pretty easy as expected so ty guys . My problem is that how do I secure the panel mount jack tightly? i try drilling a hole in the ashtray but it's too loose, when I try to plug in my jack, the mount got push in and are now hanging loosely lol, so I was just wondering if you guys used any adhesive or tapes to secure it, thx

Can you post up a picture?
I didn't use a kit, just bought the parts for a few bucks.
The jack I used had a nut on it to secure it to wherever you mount it.
I mounted mine in the astray, with the jack in the small panel with the cigarette extinguishing hole.

Sounds like the hole was drilled a bit too big. You might have to mount it with the face plate on the front and/or washers and nuts on each side to hold it in place.

yeah i drill it a bit big, i'll try drilling a smaller hole and hopefully they'll fit snug in w/o any nuts.

You don't need to use the big unattractive faceplate. I just put mine on my DCS button strip. You just need to drill a hole only big enough for the female end to fit through. Then screwing on the cap will hold it in place.

^^Those jacks are available at any electronics store & they're dead cheap. Just need a soldering iron & you're gold

yep, I went to circuit city since i have loads of em near my house, w/ tax comes to $3.30, I did it and I didn't even know the washer was screw into the front of the panel mount, so when you finish drilling your hole, just unscrew the washer and put the mount in and screw it in, it should hold tight and nice.
