LOL....normally, I try to keep it at no higher than 75 mph but I have been known to let her run to 115+ mph on occasion...I will tell you that when that does happen I soon have to re-enter the atmosphere due to the following two things:

1) I run out of runway as I run into a rolling caravan of non-driving idiots
2) I realize that I would much rather spend my hard earned money on some more M3 upgrades then a bunch full of lawyers who are trying to keep my ass out of jail on a "Reckless" charge

Yeah either-way unless I am on the track 150+ mph maybe more of a dream then a reality at this time!

I had hesitation problems months, even the vanos full repair didn`t fixed it, until I changed intake cam sensor latelyl. Now its working perfectly - no torque loss when engine gets warm, it fixed thottle lag too. Will recommend everyone to check yo intake cam sensor.

After replacing the gasket plate in the VANOS which was perished and cause oil to leak on the sensor that did not really address the Bucking issue for my car which happened from time to time, but only when the car was in Sports mode and auto or manual mode (I have the SMG II). It is important to note that this would happen when I was in 1st or 2nd gear and the only way to get it to stop was to shift up to 3rd or take my foot off the throttle, and there in lies the clue because this did not happen when I was not in Sports mode...or "Driving Miss Daisy" mode as I call it.
That is only applicable to E46 M3's-- This thread is focused mainly on non-m's.

Also the E46's M3 comfort and sport mode throttle sensitivity maps are crap. I refuse to drive a e46 M3 without the comfort and sport maps for throttle remapped.

I was cruisin' thru WV one time on one of those Byrd highways. Was a gorgeous cement road that rolled up and down and around curves thru the mountains; pleasure to drive & scenic! Yet not a lot of other people on the road.
I failed to remember which road it was, but I'd love to drive it again. Anyone know which highway I may be remembering?

Yea, It's a new development. It's near the Charlestown Casino.

So..long story short, I had the 2800-3000rpm hesitation and was falling flat around 4000rpm. Took it to a local BMW specific repair shop and had them update the DME, raise the idle to 800rpm, and erase the adaptations. Car now runs amazing! Idle is steady and all hesitations are gone.

Tried this "fix"...

Been having hesitation or slight bogging, mostly noticable when taking off in first, or shifting from first to second. Removed the connectors, hit em with contact cleaner and attempted to "close the gaps" a bit with a pick...ran into a problem where if I closed em too much (which was hardly at all), the male pins would push the female connectors right out of the plastic surround and MAN was it a bitch to get em back in. Upon test drive, seems to be SLIGHTLY better, but its not entirely gone. Vanos seal replacement necessary you think? Thoughts?

Ahh gotcha. Not to be an annoying noob but I'm new to the E46 community, have owned several E30s. Is there a kit for the seals? And is there a good DIY writeup? How difficult of a job is it? Thanks for the help.

I'm assuming my car needs the "double vanos repair kit (6-cyl), part #BS002"?

Site answers your question, but because you're new----you need BS001 which is the seals kit.
Not the rattle kit number you posted.

+1 on making a 330ci into a 330ci again . i didn't even replace my vanos seals even though i bought them. maybe i'll hold on to them since i don't see the need to replace them yet.
