in PR there are probably lots of guys named Manuel who can change your transmission. pick the Manuel which is cheapest.

Personally, I think you should not do this. If you want a manual, then sell the car that has an automatic and buy a car that has a manual. It should be cheaper, and the end result will be superior unless you buy a car that is a pile of junk.

If you sell Car A for $6500 and buy Car B for $6500, then the swap won't cost anything except some paperwork charges. If you drop the trans from Car A and stuff a new trans in its place, then you have the cost of labor plus the cost of the new trans plus the cost of another pedal plus the cost of a new reservior for the brake master cylinder, plus the cost for ...

It could easily cost multiple thousands of dollars to swap out an automatic and put in a manuel (sic). You could sell the car you have and use the thousands of dollars you have in the budget for the swap, and buy a better car that already has the transmission you want. And since the car was actually built with the transmission you want, you won't have any headaches that come from swapping stuff around and trying to make it fit.
