e46 vanos - mechanical jammed

Hi everyone,
My mech connected my 320ci to inpa, and we have found an error: mechanical vanos jammed. Don`t now, how much the vanos affects to the hp, but in my e46 for the last time I don`t feel the power. It`s much more slower.

Once the engine is cold, after few minutes appears "check engine" and car goes to the emergency mode (0 power). So i have to turn the car off, wait, and start again. Car regains the power, but the check engine control still illuminates.

Mec told to replace the hole vanos, but it`s a a bit expensive. Anyone know maybe, how to fix the vanos, or maybe any tips.. (as i calculated, it`s much more cheaper to change the engine for a new one, than replacing vanos).

Most probably a VANOS piston is stuck. If the whole VANOS needs replacement, I got a spare one for sale if you want from a 2.2 engine like ours, 50k miles on it

I`ll give U a sign, if I really need to replace it.

You likely need to install new vanos seals.

The 320 is also susceptible to a vanos rattle, so you might also consider installing a rattle kit.

Thank You for a link. Regardless to the Vanos malfunction, I`m considering SWAP from my 2.0 to 2.8. Unless i`ll fix Vanos with low costs.
