Headlights move up and down!

Not gonna lie, I'm not familiar with this feature. Without keys in ignition and light switch turned on, the headlight move up and down (or down and up, can't remember)

Is that an automatic adjustment thing?

Auto-leveling feature, supposedly it also adjusts to vehicle speed and load.

Supposedly...

When you turn on you're lights you will see the top of the beam slightly move up or down most of the time it will go up a tad, then back down.

That is the "check" feature of the auto leveling headlights. It does this to check that the motors that adjust the level of the lights is working. Some other things your car checks are the electric radiator fan, it goes on a quick second. If they didn't pass the 'check' test the system would show a fault on your dash probably.

Besides checking the motors, the full range up-and-down motion ensures the mechanisms don't freeze up.

If your car came with HIDs from the factory, then you have the feature. Otherwise you don't.

I do notice it adjust every now and then, but it's not really a big deal. It'd probably be more noticeable in a car that came with softer suspension.

Thanks for clarifying. looks like I don't have it. Does it turn to the direction of your wheel too like some of the new cars?

Only facelift coupes and convertibles. Sedans and M3s only had vertical aim

mine should have it but I've never noticed it lol. Also my passenger side motor seems to have come loose since it moves freely in the housing if you push it lightly. It swings in there lol. the other does not.
