Friend's "protege" stuck in park

Not gonna lie, know nothing about automatic, let alone about Mazda's. Her car is stuck in Park and she asked for my help. The botton goes in but the lever doesn't wanna move outta park.

Any timely help is highly appreciated.

It's an 03 btw

Apply brake, wiggle, gently nudge, maybe release parking brake and seeing if you can move it a few inches to maybe wiggle something loose.

There was a post about this recently...forget the outcome. Whatever it is isn't going to get fixed, but you might get a ride out of it...if it's an emergency.

If no go, make sure tow truck driver doesn't try to pull it up normally!

OP,
This is HER car, hopefully...

If so,
Then make sure Her Key is in the ignition, turned to position 1 (or 2) and that she depress the brake pedal Before she tries to move lever out of Park.

Something tells me that her auto and her brake pedal aren't communicating as they should. And guess what? It was google. Now post some pics so we can diagnose your real issue with this girl.

Thx guys ... Yea, googled but nothing helpful came up.

Tried to push the car forward while she wiggles the lever out of park, didn't work.

She'll have to towe the thing ... that's all I can do!

Or maybe talk her into threw the thing away and get an e46!!

Then again, we should be careful, selective whom we recommend to!!?

I don't see her as a potential e46 driver!! LOL Her car isn't the cleanest to say the least.

Does her accessaries work, ie: radio, headlight, etc.

NOTE:
The last thing you can try is the emergency selector release. There should be a small hole (probably covered by a small plastic hatch) that you can stick a screwdriver in located by the lever to "release" the lock mechanism.

Anyone else read this and think she was at the park and the car broke down?
