help needed...vanos question

Hey guys,

after doing some searching, seems like i am still confused. I want to do the vanos repair on my 2001 330i, so I bought the repair kit from Beisan. It only came with seals. What else do i need? And If I do , where can I buy? Do I need a gasket? Any advice will be appreciated!

Ok, I think I need the vanos gasket, and 2- oil/hose/pipe washer...

and they say I should also get valve cover gasket too. But where do I purchase these?

You need nothing else comrade, the kit is to change the VANOS seals in your VANOS unit. You might want to replace the valve cover gasket while you're in there as well as spark plugs if those things need attention. I think I did an oil and filter change when I did my VANOS seals. Just my two and a half cents worth...

You are correct. You need the vanis gasket and the washers at the very least. If you have never changed the valve cover gasket, you might want to get that as well. Since when you open up the valve cover, the gasket may be brittle from all the heat and break apart. Look at the top of this page for the sponsors. Most should carry what you're looking for. If not, try the dealer. But that is on the more expensive side.

As a suggestion, you should replace any seals involved, when you have it apart. See the diagram below, and consider replacing part numbers 11 (integrated seal on bolt), 17 (washerx2), 19 (vanos gasket), and any recommended on the Beisan Systems web site. If you do the valve cover gasket, also get the o-rings for each bolt on the valve cover gasket.
