Too good to be true? 05 m3 52k miles for 22G???

I know this guy in Florida who deals cars for ridiculous prices. He sold his brother an 04 e46 with 61k miles for 14K! He's selling me an 05 BMW m3 European interior (idk what that means) with 52k miles and a body kit for 22k. It seems crazy! It's black with this European red leather interior. Idk what that means and I was wondering if anyone could help:/ I know I'm a total noob haha

Both are nearly completely worthless. The number of people that buy into the advertising hype is sad. The forums are full of people that put their faith in either (usually Carfax) and learned the hard way. Carfax doesn't even collect info in some states.

A careful and detailed check of maintenance records, a PPI and in-person inspection/test drive is all that counts.

The hyped services are a waste of money.

Carfax isn't reliable I bought my car from a Bmw dealer (go figure) and they showed me a Carfax that showed that the car was clean w/ good history and no accidents
Found out the hard way that it wasn't as clean as I thought...
When I tried to see what I would get for it as a trade-in at a different car dealer they told me it had been in an accident my mouth dropped they even should me where on the car like the trunk... the paint's surface was different from the rest of the car...
Not trippin though I'm glad I bought it and I will drive it till it can't drive no more... its just that now I know stuff like Carfax isn't 100% reliable
Maintenance record would probably be a good sign of how the cars been taken care of...also remember that salesmen are salesmen they what too make a sale...pic's of the car would be nice...bodykit European interior???

here is some advice. Get good high res detailed pictures of the car. I assume you dont live in FL. Then if that passes your inspection. Fly down to where the car is. Where in FL btw? Take it for a PPI. Thats number 1.

Make your decision from there. Carfax will only show you so much. If it shows accidents then you know right quick the car had a rough history and may need more love. Today - a car that has had a minor bump is nothing to be scared of. Just make sure the repairs are done right, with the right parts and by the right people.

Test drive it on the highway, parking lot ...everything except rally style and youll have a great idea of what your looking at. At that price or lower you should still be safe as far as trading or selling it later goes.

Car Fax and the like can be helpful to know if the history you are being told is at least accurate (they can be - no way to rely on any of them for all info). I found them useful when I got my 330i but a PPI is a must along with the Car Fax and the like.

His point is very valid, I know of a couple of cars personally that have been in accidents and car fax is clean...

Yes this is true, like in my situation. Bought a 333oi from a semi-small time dealer and before I went I personally pulled up the carfax which came out clean. I took it for a test drive and told the dealer I would take it for a PPI. Conclusion to the inspection from the numbnuts that did the inspection was car looks solid, no negatives that he can see but did advise me that once this car gets in the 100K+ miles it will be costly to maintain(70K miles at time or sale). Later on I had a buddy throw on M3 front and he told me the car was in an accident(he pointed out that under the hood/driver's side the frame was crooked but with an obvious attempt to straighten it out). Guessing prior owner had crashed it/was crashed and got it repaired(not through insurance) so that it wouldn't be reported as crashed/salvaged.

In the end use carfax/maintenance records/test drive/inspection but dont FULLY trust person doing it like in my situation, keep an eye out for areas missed during PPI

Carfax only shows accidents reported to insurance. A buddy of mine works at Carmax and ran the front fender of a Z3 into a pole, they had to replace the whole front fender and guess what... Carfax is clean!
