Taco meat idea
maybe this is stupid but I figured I'd ask. I plan on making tacos tonight and I always get annoyed at the big clumps of meat that fall all over the place. Would it be an ok idea to toss the meat in a blender and just make it a little more fine in order to keep the meat together better. Almost like a paste?
And also, would an entire chopped up habanero be too much for a whole package of taco meat? |

Just make sure to keep stirring and chopping the meat with a spatula. It should turn out great if u do that. No need to put it in a blender.

Dude I tried the blender thing once trust me don't do it, turns into poop paste. Stir and chop as suggested.
Oh and how much is an entire package of taco meat?

If you want to go that route I would recommend a food processor before anything else. That will at least throw a really fine chop on the cooked meat. A blender will requrie you to add some sort of liquid to get it to blend.

I think 1 Hab would be fine for about 1.5lbs.
And if you really want paste then by all means use the blender...Just report back with your results. Just FYI when I blended mine the juice from the meat was enough liquid to get it to blend so I didn't have to add anything.

It worked well. Almost like a taco bell meat texture. It was basically spreadable. Although it came out good I'll probably stick to the traditional way.
Pics not working but I'll try again later |

Yes...I do think I hate you

just cook the meat longer, as it simmers in the sauce stir it every once in awhile. The meat will break up more so it gets closer to taco bell consistency.

WTF is taco meat?
Edit: Nevermind. I'm guessing you're talking about ground beef. Last edited by chivo328; 07-29-2011 at 11:35 AM. |

I always wanted to try and make some taco burgers and then cut them in half so that they are the same shape as the taco shell. then layer the cheese/lettuce/guac/sourcream/etc in layers like a sandwich so that you get all the ingredients in every bite instead of the cold **** on top and the meat and cheese on the bottom. With it being a half a patty it wouldn't fall out of the shell either!
We have taco night about once a week. I usually eat 5 or 6 tacos while my wife and son eat 1 or 2. How many do you guys eat?

I just stab at it with a spatula. Gets just right after a minute or two. Just gotta grip it and rip it.

i ran 14 miles yesterday and then promptly went to taco bell and had 3 soft tacos and 2 bean burritos.
![]() i usually make authentic mexican tacos at home because they are 100 x better than any taco with ground beef and so simple. for your meat spillage problem, you just need to have it more sauce like instead of just seasoned lumps of dry beef.
