It all depends on how the police in your area are. I have 20% all around and the police here never give me a second glance.

+1. I have 35 all around, and the "legal" limit in my area is 50. I have never gotten a ticket, or even a mention, including the 3 or 4 times I have gotten pulled over for other things.

Depends on your state laws.

I have 20 all around.

If you do a different % up front, it'll look weird. I had 30/15 on my old car and it looked like crap, front is lighter then rear

Best way to do tint is to go with a darker front then rear, reason is because there is alot of sun coming from your windsheild and even if you go same % all around , the rear will look darker. Something like 20/25 or 30/35

Ask the tint place about "Mercedes blue" they'll know what it is, then ask for pricing. If you can afford it , DO IT. Along with the tint that you want. It'll be your absolute best mod.

Here's a legal Q.

What happens if u get in an accident, & have illegal % tints,.....even if the accident was not your fault, do u think a jerk officer could make a statement about your car that the illegal tints may have been a "contributable factor" to the accident, rendering more at-fault, or even full-fault to YOU?

(where's the lawyers on the board?....I ask this b/c we have power-hungry RCMP officers here in Canada who darn-near have the right to be judge, jury & executioner.)

Legality of the tint solely depends on the eyesight of the officer and time of the day.

Different films look different, ex. some 20% look like other 15% and some 35% look like other 50%. Cops dont have any measuring equipment to measure the %tage of sunlight thought the film(I know for the fact they dont carry any with them, they might have one at the office thou) so it all depends on the cop itself, his eyesight and if ts dark or bright out. The whole idea of tint being "illegal" is SO vague.

Lawyer here. There's no chance an officer would state that the tinted windows were "contributable."

He would use English, instead.

On my Geo, I had 2.5% all the way around. It was ridiculously dark and I loved it. I also have like 3 pages of tint tickets that go with it. I'm just not interested in that kind of attention anymore, so I'm going with something less conspicuous. Thinking around 20%. The limit here is 50%, but anything over 20 just seems too light for me.

Oh, and police do have equipment to measure tint. I don't know about where everyone else is, but here they do. They have a meter that they clamp on the window and it measures, very accurately, the degree of tint. Had it done several times. It is standard equipment for officers to carry.

My advice is get the same % all around. Anything else looks cheap in my opinion. I have 20% all around. Here it's just a fix-it ticket though.

What color is your interior. You can get away with a darker tint if the interior is a lighter color.
