bodyshop workers asking to do a side job for you?

so does anyone else get this? its the second time i've got some body shop people in a truck driving up to me and saying they are able to fix my dent/scratch and what not for a heavily discounted price.

i turned them down twice. are they credible? should i be jumping on their offers nxt time?

I would probably avoid this like a plague. Does anyone who does reputable work really need side work? Reputable workers are usually too busy to do side jobs unless it's for friends. Much less go hunting for work on the street, above all remember you get what you pay for...

I'd get this all the time driving my dented Accord. Once I said yes and within seconds of having my "approval" the guy punched two holes in my door (I looked away just for a moment) and started pulling with the slide hammer. I learned my lesson -- never again.

Were they in a dark blue or some other dark colored pick-up truck???

I've seen those guys around "SouthShore" in Alameda. They've been doing some people's cars in the parking lot by the Starbucks. They are usually working on cars for the out of state coast guard folks that got dents and what not. They would spray paint scratches w/ a spray can too! Kinda odd....

If I were you, just ignore them, or oblige their offer. Seems like a scheme to me to get $$ from people. Just be safe and keep a lookout cuz those guys don't look legit one bit. They're dressed in street clothes and just asking people to work on their cars w/ damage.
